“Supernatural” led into its final hiatus with ‘The Gamblers,’ where Sam and Dean travel to a pool hall in Alaska to try and win back their luck. The episode features Stephen Huszar as the man in charge of the lucky coins, and the son of the Deity, Fortuna. Nerd Alert News had an opportunity to talk with Stephen Huszar about being on set and what other projects you can find him in.
Melissa Fudge: We’ve all been told that SPN set has always been a welcoming place for newcomers. How was your experience walking into such a tightknit group?
Stephen Huszar: Yes, very welcoming. It’s a beautiful experience to be on set of such a well-oiled machine. Many of the crew have been on the show for over 10 years, and some for all 15 seasons, including Jensen and Jared of course. It’s always a pleasure to see familiar faces and since I’ve worked on the show before, it was a real treat to come back and be a part of such a successful show in its final season.
MF: I understand you played one of Crowley’s demons in 2014 and now you were able to return to the show during their final season. Was there something about the show or about this character that made you want to come back again?
SH: The writing is the best in the business, the crew is top-notch and the actors are statesmen of the craft, which made it pretty easy to come back! I enjoy playing darker roles, and this character possessed qualities that I really wanted to explore and play with.
MF: I know you have acted in several Hallmark movies, which I am a big fan of, and also in “Rabid” that came out this past December. I was wondering if you have any new projects that you are working on this year?
SH: I’m currently shooting another Ruby Herring Mysteries film called “Prediction Murder.” It’s the 3rd film the series and I play detective ‘Jake Killian’ who solves crimes with a consumer investigative reporter. It set to be released April 5th on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
MF: What’s been the most challenging moment of your acting career so far?
SH: Shooting in the middle of winter in Canada wearing summer clothes and acting like it’s warm!
MF: Is there a show that you are hoping to be on that you haven’t had a chance to yet, or someone that you would really like to work with someday?
SH: I’d love to work with Christopher Nolan. I think he’s a genius.
Thank you, Stephen, for taking the time to talk with us! Be sure to tune in when “Supernatural” returns on March 16th.
