The 51st Annual American Music Awards (AMAs) are set to dazzle Las Vegas on Monday, May 26, 2025. For the first time ever, the iconic awards show will broadcast live from the Las Vegas Strip and make its debut on CBS at 8:00 PM ET, also streaming on Paramount+. Adding to the excitement, global superstar Jennifer Lopez will take on double duty as both host and performer.
Kendrick Lamar dominates the nominations this year with ten nods, including the highly coveted Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for GNX, and Song of the Year for his chart-topper Not Like Us. A sweep in all ten categories would place him in the record books alongside legends Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most AMAs won in a single year. Close behind is Post Malone with eight nominations. Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each earned seven, highlighting a diverse and competitive field. Fan favorites such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, SZA, Lady Gaga, and Sabrina Carpenter are also among this year’s nominees, setting the stage for a star-studded evening.
This year marks the introduction of three new categories: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Social Song of the Year. These additions speak to the evolving ways fans engage with music and the growing influence of social media on what’s trending in pop culture. In the Album of the Year category, nominees include Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard Not Fast, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. True to AMA tradition, fan power is in full force. The awards remain fan-voted, making them a true celebration of audience influence. Voting is open now through May 15 on voteAMAs.com and via the AMAs’ official Instagram. For categories such as Collaboration of the Year and Social Song of the Year, voting will stay open during the first 30 minutes of the live show.
