The kings of disaster flicks are back! The Asylum—legendary for their wild, adrenaline-pumping genre films—returns with a fiery new thriller: Super Volcano. If you’ve ever stayed up way too late watching lava melt through entire cities or had a slight Pompeii-level fear living anywhere near Yellowstone (like me!), this is one movie you’ll want on your radar.
The Premise:
When a super-volcano beneath Hawaii begins to rumble, panic erupts. A seasoned team of rescue and disaster experts is dispatched to the islands to battle against nature’s fury. With rivers of lava and plumes of ash threatening the lives of thousands, the mission is simple: stop the volcano and save as many people as possible. Easier said than done when Mother Earth is this angry.
The Cast & Crew:
The film stars William Baldwin (Backdraft, Sliver), McKenzie Westmore (Passions, Love in the Clouds), and Grant Bowler (Killer Elite, Atlas Shrugged: Part 1), all perfectly cast to deliver The Asylum’s signature blend of action, heart, and a dash of chaos. It’s penned by Marc Gottlieb and C.M. Dowling, and directed by genre veteran Jared Cohn, whose credits are packed with edge-of-your-seat blockbusters.
When & Where to Watch:
The digital release came out today, July 18, 2025, so you can hunker down with popcorn and lava lamps from the comfort of your couch. But if you’re feeling brave enough to face the fire on the big screen, catch it in select theaters starting July 25, 2025:

As someone who lives just a bit too close to Yellowstone for comfort, watching this movie might either prepare me for the inevitable… or just add fuel to my volcano-anxiety dreams.
