I didn’t know I needed Happy Gilmore 2 until I had it. I had always wanted it, but only dared to dream a sequel would ever happen. Now it’s here. Now I can’t imagine life without it. So many years of waiting, wondering, hoping—every second of it was worth it. This wasn’t just a sequel. This was a full-circle moment wrapped in comedy, heart, and the kind of chaotic brilliance only Adam Sandler can deliver when he’s locked in.
From the very first scene, Happy Gilmore 2 had me. I laughed so hard I startled my son in the other room. I cheered at the screen without a shred of restraint. And yes—I cried. Because sometimes a movie doesn’t just entertain you, it meets you exactly where you are. This one felt like it had been waiting thirty years for me, and when we finally reunited, it was pure fate. I loved every chaotic, heartfelt minute. This is why I watch movies.

Part of what makes this movie work is seeing so many familiar faces back in the game. Adam Sandler slides into Happy’s shoes like he never left, joined once again by Christopher McDonald as the ever-smarmy Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Virginia, and Allen Covert as Otto. Even Ben Stiller returns as the hilariously abrasive Hal L., this time leading an alcoholism support group. But this sequel doesn’t stop at the core cast — it crams in a wild mix of celebrity cameos that play like a victory lap through pop culture. Golf legends from Jack Nicklaus to Rory McIlroy share the screen with musicians like Post Malone and Eminem, athletes like Travis Kelce, and surprise comedy drops from the likes of Rob Schneider and Guy Fieri. Some pop in for quick gags, others for scene-stealing bits, but together they give the film the chaotic, party-like energy of the original. The whole cast felt like a reunion, but without the awkward—only magic.

It’s rare for a comedy sequel to hit this hard. It honored the original without trying to outdo it. It gave us growth, guts, and that signature Gilmore swing. But more than that, it gave fans like me closure. It was fun, yes. It was hilarious. But it was also human. It reminded me why I fell in love with movies in the first place.
So here it is: Happy Gilmore 2 is the best thing I’ve seen in the past 29 years. Full stop. It was everything I hoped for, and more. I just had to wait almost three decades… and it was totally worth it.
