Fantasy fans are about to get their own journey to Middle-earth when MEGACON Orlando hosts a massive celebration honoring the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Taking place March 19–22 at the Orange County Convention Center, the convention will transform the venue into a gathering place for Tolkien fans with cast reunions, live panels, exclusive merchandise, and immersive themed experiences.
The event will bring together an impressive lineup of stars from the legendary film trilogy, including Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, Karl Urban, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, John Rhys-Davies, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, John Noble, and David Wenham. Together, they will help commemorate the film that helped redefine modern fantasy cinema and sparked a global fan movement.
One of the most anticipated moments of the weekend will be An Evening With the Hobbits: In Celebration of 25 Years. During the special event, Wood, Astin, Monaghan, and Boyd will reunite on stage for a live discussion reflecting on their time bringing Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin to life. The panel will take place Saturday night and promises to offer fans a rare look behind the scenes of the beloved trilogy while celebrating the friendships formed during its production.
The celebration continues the following morning with Second Breakfast: An Unexpected Feast with the Hobbits. Hosted by the same four actors, the special Sunday morning gathering will give attendees the chance to share stories, laughs, and a uniquely themed experience inspired by Hobbit culture. Fans will also have the opportunity to hear from one of the saga’s most recognizable stars during On Stage with Orlando Bloom. The live appearance will feature conversation, fan interaction, and personal reflections from Bloom about his career and his iconic role as Legolas in the trilogy.
Beyond the actors, the creative minds who helped bring Middle-earth to life will also be part of the celebration. Artists and designers from Wētā Workshop, the legendary studio responsible for the films’ creatures, armor, and props, will host panels and discussions throughout the weekend. Attendees will hear from Sir Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger, designer Daniel Falconer, and costume specialist Flo Foxworthy about the craftsmanship and innovation behind the films’ unforgettable visuals.
Collectors will also have something special to look forward to. In partnership with Wētā Workshop, the convention will debut limited-edition anniversary collectibles celebrating the 25-year milestone. Exclusive items (including replica props inspired by the films) will be available through a special pre-sale and onsite pickup at the event.
For fans looking to continue the festivities after the convention floor closes, MEGACON will host a themed after-hours gathering inspired by the world of Middle-earth: Lord of the Raves. The celebration will take place at the Rosen Plaza Hotel and will feature a fantasy-inspired atmosphere designed to extend the weekend’s celebration well into the night.
With cast reunions, behind-the-scenes insights, exclusive merchandise, and immersive fan experiences, MEGACON Orlando’s Lord of the Rings anniversary celebration is shaping up to be a once-in-a-generation event for fantasy lovers.
