Shoshannah Stern charmed her way into “Supernatural” fan’s hearts with her role as badass and deaf hunter, Eileen Leahy. Sam fans were surely hoping to see the two work together more, but sadly the British Men of Letters had another agenda.

Born in Walnut Creek, CA, she is fourth generation of a deaf family and has a fabulous filmography. The super talented actress and writer is best known for her role as Eileen in “Supernatural”, Megan from “Weeds”, Bonnie from “Jericho”, and stars as Kate in the highly acclaimed series “This Close”. Catch up with Shoshannah to hear why her set is a “happy place” and her favorite moment in filming “Supernatural”.

Colleen Bement: “Supernatural” fans absolutely loved you in your role as Eileen Leahy. You were badass, smart, beautiful, and really touched our hearts. We miss you. Tell us about your experiences on the set.

Shoshannah Stern: I remember the first time I set foot on that set. The energy was intensely, almost overwhelmingly, good. I could feel that it is a place that makes people happy, and I knew that it was going to be something very special. And I wasn’t wrong. Everyone works very hard on that show, and Eileen was a challenging role for me to play, but at the same time it was so much fun. I feel honored that I got to be there. I have so many good memories of my time on the show, but I think my favorite one was shooting the scene where I accidentally shoot Renny Rawlings. It was an all-night shoot on my daughter’s birthday outside with snow all around us, and I had to roll around on the freezing wet ground and try to somehow stay warm, but I basically could not stop laughing. The boys made it so fun it was contagious. It was the night that Jensen did the three point turn in Baby that made it to the ‘Shaving People Punting Things’ blooper from ‘The British Invasion’. I actually laughed so hard in the back seat I shot boogers out of both nostrils and I still don’t really know where they went. Sorry, Baby.

CB: Your new series “This Close” tugs at my heartstrings and makes me laugh. It’s a fabulous show that we all should be watching. How much has bringing this series to life meant to you?

SS: Thank you so much. I really can’t tell you how much it means because I don’t feel as if I’ve really wrapped my head around it yet. It still seems unbelievable. I kept telling myself, well, maybe if we get picked up for another season, then it’ll feel real. But we did, and guess what, it still doesn’t! The thing that I feel most proud of, other than the show itself, is that we are bringing back 98% of our crew for the second season. I think people do their best work when they are happy and when they care about what they’re doing. And because they all wanted to come back, I feel as if we did something right. And that’s because I said from the beginning that I wanted the set to be a happy place and so we have dance parties in between scenes when we’re shooting all-nighters. If I’m being honest, a lot of that is inspired by me wanting to bottle the energy that I felt that first day I stepped on the set of “Supernatural”.

CB: What are you allowed to share about your upcoming film “The Magnificent Meyersons”?

SS: It’s an ensemble about a dysfunctional family in New York City. Richard Kind and Kate Mulgrew play my parents. I’m the youngest daughter. She’s kind of like an onion because you think you’ve got her figured out, and then in every scene you see her in, there’s another layer underneath the first you didn’t expect. She’s actually kind of ruthless, but in her defense, think you’d have to be if you were in her shoes living the kind of life she does. I was really excited about this one because she’s definitely different from any other character I’ve had the chance to play. They only just finished shooting, so I’m really excited to see how this one turns out!
