Tyler Hilton performed at the “Terre Haute Brewery Company” on Thursday, this was Tyler’s second time performing in Terre Haute, Indiana. Tyler Hilton is a singer/actor who has been on many well-known shows. Most people know him from the show known as “One Tree Hill”, where he played Chris Keller. Sci-Fi fans may know him from the show “Extant” he played Charlie Arthurs. Some may also remember him from a little music video called “Teardrops on my Guitar” by Taylor Swift.
The show opened with Tyler’s tour manager Corey Balsamo who performed two original and two cover songs. During the show, we all found out that Corey has been touring with Tyler since 2012. Corey could usually be found at the merch table but every now and then he had to chance to open for Tyler.
Tyler came on 20 minutes after Corey was finished playing his set. He opened with his song Overtime. This song I would describe having a country type feel. Tyler’s songs normally have a country/pop feel. He then sang “When the Night Moves” which he co-wrote with one of his co-stars from “One Tree Hill,” Kate Voegele. A music video is in the works according to Hilton. The song is also on his newer album that came out in January of this year.
Which brings me to the next song he treated the audience to, City on Fire, which is the is the name of the album. In my opinion, it is one of my favorite songs on the album I love how upbeat it is and the message behind it. The next song he sang was called How long til’ I Lose You which he told the audience he wrote for one of his high school friends that had passed away. This is something I never knew, and it is such a beautiful song. Tyler performed Missing You that was featured in “One Tree Hill,” along with his other song When The Stars Go Blue. This was my second time seeing Tyler live and I have to say it really is different every time. He doesn’t always play the same songs at each show. He didn’t play one of my favorites from the show When the Stars Go Blue, however, I had been lucky enough to see him play it the first time that I saw him.
I have to say I love how intimate his shows felt. It did not feel like your far away from seeing him. The audience can feel his music when he sings. Tyler also is great when it comes to the after show. I’ve never gone to a show where the talent wants to meet you, he just wants everyone to come say hi and meet him. He appreciates everyone that comes to his shows and takes the time. I have listened to his music since I heard him sing on “One Tree Hill.” I was happy to finally get to go to one of his shows this year, and I can’t wait to get to see him perform again.
