Black Clover is back with an all-new feature film!

The popular manga series Black Clover, which has been published in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) and has sold over 17 million copies, will be made into a movie! The series follows Asta, a boy who was born with no magic, in a world where magic is everything. Asta aims to become the “Wizard King,” to overcome adversity, prove his power, and keep his oath with his friends.

Back in 2022, the official Japanese website for the anime confirmed the release of a new movie. The film titled “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King” is set to premiere globally on March 31, 2023.

About the Film

The highly anticipated Black Clover movie will be an original story of the Wizard King not depicted in the manga.

In commemoration of the 7th anniversary of the Weekly Shonen Jump series of “Black Clover” the first teaser trailer and visual drawn by Tabata were released. Black Clover manga creator Yūki Tabata will serve as the film’s chief supervisor and original character designer. A new character described as the previous Wizard King will be voiced by Toshihiko Seki. Here’s a look at the official teaser trailer.

Hope For The Future

The film’s release serves as a 2 year anniversary of sorts for the series since the final episode of Black Clover aired on March 30, 2021. The anime being so close behind the manga in terms of arc adaptations became a recurring problem for the series. Eventually, it was announced the anime would be put on an indefinite hiatus. During the 2021 Crunchyroll Expo, the cast and staff of the series expressed their hope for the series’ return. “If there is a continuation, I hope to see you all again,” said Tanemura, the series director.

Following in the path of fellow shonen anime movies like My Hero Academia: World’s Heroes Mission and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the movie is sure to be a hit. The success of the movie and the manga still ongoing have fans hopeful for the return of the anime.
