Of course there were Furries at PrideFest. They were prancing in their natural habitat! Not sure how they survived the 92° temperatures, though. These and more showed up this weekend in downtown Denver, June 28-29, 2025 to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and show how important it is to continue to fight for equality, visibility, and acceptance. This was a chance for people to be their authentic selves through unity and passion. The vibe was full of joy and celebration and the setup at Denver’s Civic Center Park was safe and fun. There were a ton of vendors offering unique crafts, clothes, and services. Of course, there were the usual not-so-unique vendors that probably didn’t get too much attention, but hey, there’s always someone who needs new windows. There were delicious food vendors, drinks, and thankfully, free water stations.
Over 500,000 people attend Denver PrideFest each year, and it happens to be one of the largest free Pride events in the country. This year it celebrated its 51th anniversary here in Denver. People wore their best rainbows and expressed their love. There was music and entertainment with the likes of Pattie Gonia, Detox, Miss Vanjie, and CHIKA. Unfortunately, I missed one of the event’s highlights this year- the parade, but I had an absolute blast discovering everything else PrideFest had to offer. There was even a Pride 5K for those ambitious early attendees.
According to Natalie Zanoni, Chief Operating Officer of The Center on Colfax, this year’s theme, ‘Hearts on Fire,’ speaks to the passion that drives our community to keep showing up, speaking out, and celebrating who we are. It honors the fierce passion, resilience, and love that define the LGBTQ+ community. It makes me incredibly proud to live in Colorado. Well done, Denver. See you next year!
