The Colorado Convention Center hosted Fan Expo’s annual celebration of all things pop culture and fans could not get enough. Thankfully, they had more time to enjoy it this year. The 2024 convention ran from July 4th – 7th, 2024, and people seemed to like the 4-day weekend experience. Normally there was so much to see and do that getting it all in was impossibly challenging. The 4-day format offered a time and space where there were opportunities for panels, autographs, gaming, and all-important shopping. Every year this event takes over Denver and it is hard to come across anyone who doesn’t at least know someone who attended. It is an energy-infused weekend of joy where people cosplayed, hung out with friends old and new, and shopped until they almost dropped.
There was something for everyone at Fan Expo Denver. The panels were fascinating and fun. The little ones could get lost in adventure with the Kids Lab. There were plenty of hands-on activities and chances to get up close and personal with those favorite celebrities. The Merchant Mesa was packed with creativity from beautiful artwork to collectibles, jewelry, plushies, swords, and everything in between. Not only could people pick up a new book, they could meet the author.
The celebrities and artists were incredible including Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson. The Academy Award fame didn’t end there with other Oscar alums Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, and Richard Dreyfuss. Fans who knew that “saving people and hunting things” was important enjoyed the “Supernatural” panel of Jared Padalecki, Jim Beaver, Mark Sheppard, Alexander Calvert, and Ruth Connell. “The Clone Wars” viewers met and heard stories from Ashley Eckstein, Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, and Dee Bradley Baker. And, another Ahsoka favorite, Rosario Dawson was there to share stories and meet her fans. “Doctor Who’s own Doctor Donna, Catherine Tate cracked up her audience, Andy Serkis had plenty of tales to tell, Antony Starr, Colby Minifie, and Valorie Curry from “The Boys” were on hand, and “Fallout’s own Ella Purnell hosted a panel. The final day still had the energy and started out with panels that felt more like parties with “Rocky Horror Picture Show” stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick.
Next year will be another 4-day convention, July 3- 6th, 2025. Stay tuned to Fan Expo’s website and stay updated by clicking on the “sign up” button in the upper right corner. It’s always fun when the guest announcements start rolling in, and sometimes that cosplay needs the extra time to prep.
See you next year!
