Every small town has its stories
Welcome to October with a new film by Collective Imagination. The movie poster alone makes the film alluring with its psychedelic vibes. It is said to be “one part haunted house story, one part slasher film with just a dash of hallucinogenic drugs.” Sounds like a perfect way to usher in the season. The plot: Four childhood friends take a weekend trip to a rural farmhouse in Pennsylvania. Expecting a relaxing weekend of excess, the group soon comes to find out that the house has something else planned. It was fun…until it wasn’t.
The Pittsburgh native, Dean Jacobs, returned to his hometown to shoot his directorial feature film debut, according to Jacobs Pittsburgh, birthplace of the zombie film and creative home to George Romero. I made sure to honor his legacy in many ways with this film, including the casting of John Amplas and Lori Cardille. He adds that the story takes place just an hour outside of Pittsburgh, PA and the film was shot entirely on location in a 167-year-old farmhouse.
Led by horror icon Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) the cast includes John Amplas (Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Knightriders, Martin), Lori Cardille (Day of the Dead), and Hannah Fierman (V/H/S) join Luke Edwards (Jeepers Creepers 2, Little Big League, Newsies, The Wizard) in indie psychedelic horror film The Trip from Collective Imagination Productions. Dean Jacobs, Evan Sloan, and Calvin Dittmore round out the impressive ensemble cast. A Pittsburgh premiere is set for October 26th at the Lindsay Theater in Sewickley, PA. Distribution details will be coming in the next several months.
