Chad Lindberg does in real life what “Supernatural’s Sam and Dean do on screen. Out of Mount Vernon, WA Lindberg is also recognized for his role as Joey Peanuts on “NCIS”, and has had spots in “Castle”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and has some fun projects in the works. Get to know “Dr. Badass” and find out more of what he has been up to.
Colleen Bement: “Supernatural” is has just entered it’s 14th season and fans miss you playing Ash. I know that I’m not the only one who wishes the powers that be would bring back Ash.
Chad Lindberg: Ya know, I don’t think there’s one “Supernatural” fan out there that would not want to see the mullet return one more time. Those characters were the foundation and we had no idea it was going to become such a phenomenon.
CB: Now you’ve got “Supernatural”–kind of forever.
CL: Forever, and thank goodness. There’s nothing like the “Supernatural” fandom and I say that all the time, and it’s true. Some of the most loyal, kindest–you know, they’ve helped me through life, you know what I mean? It goes way further than a fandom. I have a special connection with them. I can’t speak highly enough of the fandom and how much I love them.
CB: On that note, can you tell your fans about your Nerd Circus Noir? There is some really cool merchandise on that website.
CL: Thank you. It’s just my website where I have all of my autographs, and I do phone calls for fans. All my Dr. Badass stuff is on there, and for Halloween, I’m going all out: I’m signing skulls and ghosts. I just like to have fun. I want fans to be able to get it from me personally. Get it straight from Dr. Badass himself.
CB: Do you ever run into any of your former SPN cast mates from time to time?
CL: All the time, all the time. Thankfully after Ash’s death, he’s been able to survive through the convention world and live in the convention world for many years. I see everybody whenever I do a convention, and it’s; like coming home. If I see the cast that means I’m getting to see the fans. As I’m sure you know the “Supernatural” conventions are like rock concerts. I see them often and I love them dearly.
CB: I see that you’re a paranormal enthusiast. Did “Supernatural” get you into that, or where you already into that kind of stuff?
CL: It’s funny, no. “Supernatural” was just one of those things that came along and I’ve always been into the paranormal. It wasn’t until a show called “Ghost Adventures” came along that it really spiked my interest. They had me on their show, and then I’ve started a career, basically, going out and investigating. I’ve been doing ghost hunts all over the place, and facilitating conversations between the living and the dead. I take people out to really haunted places and I get into it, man. It’s kind of like what Sam and Dean do on the show, I kinda do for real.
I have a show called “Ghost Stalkers” on the station Destination America where they put me into crazy locations by myself overnight. I’m WAY into it.
CB: How can your fans find this show?
CL: They play “Ghost Stalkers” all the time on Destination America, and with it being October, I’m sure they’re going to play it a lot.
CB: Tell us about your film “Limbo” coming out sometime in 2019.
CL: It’s an independent movie that came along. It’s got a lot of twists and turns in it so I can’t say too much, I have a small role. It’s nice to be on set and be out of the haunted basements and be on set. I just returned to “NCIS” as Joey Peanuts, and I just got cast in another TV show that I can’t tell you what it is quite yet, but it’s good.
CB: Is there a TV show called “Party Monsters” coming up?
CL: It’s a pilot I helped produce and it’s basically “Entourage” but with monsters. We wanted to see what happened if Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera, Dorian Gray all live under one roof. Gil McKinney, who was also in “Supernatural” plays the Phantom of the Opera. We’ve been working on it for a while; trying to get it perfect and then we want to shop it around and make a TV show out of it.
CB: You’ve been on some favorite shows of fans such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “The X-Files”. How did you get started in show business?
CL: I started in high school and I knew at a very young age that it was what I good at and it was what I wanted to do. I started in Seattle and honestly, I tell people that I looked in my local small town newspaper and flipped to the classifieds, and I saw this article that looking for actors. I called them up, went an auditioned for them a couple of days later, and they took me on and then the day after the sent me an audition for a movie called “Born to be Wild” and my very first audition I got cast, and it kind of started from there, and it kept building, slowly building.
I moved to LA after high school around ’96 and then my first audition was for a TV show called “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. I remember at the time because I was I young and I didn’t know any better, I remember getting the audition and I was like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”–they’re making a TV show out of this? This will never go. Of course I get cast and of course, it goes on to become a huge phenomenon. Buffy, I did so many cool TV shows when I was young. “ER”, and then “X-Files”, and it was one of those shows you look back and it was really cool to be on those types of shows that had a phenomenon behind it. It was kind of precious at that moment.
