Two popular CW shows “Kung Fu” and “DC’s Stargirl” score renews.
“Kung Fu” premiered with over 3.5 million viewers and watched its audience grow even more in its second week on the air. The show is worth a watch with a story that takes its viewers on a journey with young Chinese American, Nicky Shen played by Olivia Liang. Needing a major shake-up in her life, she drops out of college and isolates herself in a monastery. The character finds her true calling after returning home to San Francisco to fight crime. Series regular Shannon Dang says that the audience is going to laugh, cry, and grow with her character. “Kung Fu” airs Wednesdays at 8:00 PM ET.
“DC’s Stargirl” enjoyed a series premiere of being CW’s most-watched summer debut in six years. Actress Brec Bassinger plays Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), a high school sophomore who takes on the forces of evil along with her crew of young heroes.
Luke Wilson plays his stepfather that helps in the mission of keeping people safe. The second season sees our young heroes taking on the scariest of adversaries in the DC world, the dark entity of corruption known as Eclipso. The series is helmed by Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. Fresh and ready for more, season two of “DC’s Stargirl” premieres Tuesday, Aug. 10th with a 9:00 ET timeslot.

CW TV’s boss says we are beyond proud to continue to share the stories of Nicky Shen and Courtney Whitmore, two strong, powerful young women at the center of this new generation of hit shows for The CW in “Kung Fu” and “DC’s Stargirl.” While each boasts remarkable talent on both sides of the camera, “Kung Fu” and “DC’s Stargirl” have not only treated fans to some visually stunning action and high-flying heroics, but they also both strike very powerful emotional chords as they delve into the family dynamics and personal relationships at their core, and we are so excited to see what happens next.
