What do you get when you have a museum filled with LEGOs?
The Denver Museum of Nature & Science wants you to find out! Come and build your LEGO masterpieces alongside stunning LEGO sculptures at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. This June, 19, 2020, fans of all ages will get the chance to marvel at a life-size statue of a man with thousands of yellow LEGO bricks coming straight out of his chest, a T. rex skeleton made out of 80,000 LEGOs, and realistic LEGO-infused photography from award-winning photographer Dean West. Well-known contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya has created brick-built beauty such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night and the Venus de Milo.
“Nathan Sawaya is an award-winning artist who creates awe-inspiring works of art out of some of the most unlikely things. His global touring exhibitions, The Art of the Brick, feature large-scale sculptures using only toy building blocks, LEGO bricks to be exact. His work is obsessively and painstakingly crafted and is both beautiful and playful.
Previously an NYC corporate lawyer, Sawaya is the first artist to ever take LEGO into the art world and is the author of two best-selling books. His unique exhibition is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on LEGO as an art medium and has broken attendance records around the globe. The creations, constructed from countless individual LEGO pieces, were built from standard bricks beginning as early as 2002.”
Guests of all ages will get the chance to explore their creativity with a giant area filled with LEGO bricks. There will even be a LEGO Brick Building Contest.
