This year the holiday cheer is more important than ever, no thanks to a very difficult 2020. The decoration of the Christmas tree brought some much-needed joy into households. While some people put on the Christmas classics on their smart speakers, others had “Star Wars” playing in the background. Some may have sipped hot cocoa with marshmallows, and others drank Romulan Ale. Is that tree topper Castiel from “Supernatural,” and an angel from another verse? Whether the ornaments come from Hallmark, or an Etsy shop, or even better, handmade by the nerd, these pieces express personalities.
Melody:
Melody was inspired to dress up her Christmas tree with some nerdy ornaments. This Denver nerd proudly displays a “Star Trek” Enterprise D ornament made way back in 1993. “Star Wars” is her main love and she very proudly displays a Millenium Falcon that dates back to 1996. Merry Christmas, Melody!
Tina:
Why have a muggle Christmas Tree when one can have a “Harry Potter” Christmas Tree? Tina used a little magic when she made the ornaments for her traditional tree, then decided she seriously needed a “Harry Potter” tree and made even more. She needed a tree topper and thought, why not have a talking sorting hat?
Brian:
“Star Wars” was one of the first things that Brian introduced to his son that connected the two. Then when the “Avengers” film came out, they two watched it together and his son loved it. It was fate. However, when “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” came out on Blu-Ray, the father and son must have watched it at least five times that first week alone.
Colleen:
Christmas at Colleen’s house always includes nerdy ornaments. From ten feet away, it appears to be an average yet lovely little tree. Zoom in and plenty of nerdiness can be found. “Supernatural” is well-represented with a Pig in a Poke and a flannel shirt, and Captain Kirk is clearly having trouble with Tribbles. Obi-Wan is watching over the crowd with his trusty lightsaber, and Han is negotiating with Greedo. The favorite every year is the Obi-Wan vs Anakin ornament that yells “this is the end for your my master!” That button gets pressed at least 20 times a season.
