“Once upon a time there was a little boy named Peet who slept peacefully in a coma. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a nightmare.”

Once Upon a Coma [now ‘Neversong‘] is a game about Peet who wakes up from a coma searches for his girlfriend who seems to have disappeared.

As Peet, we run around in a strange but beautiful world that surrounds a secret while fighting creatures that don’t want us to go any further. But we go further and see strange things in a strange world.

And who is Dr. Smile?

This game is, from the beginning to the end, beautifully atmospheric with little questions to move the player ahead. But this story is dark and has a deep background to find with a lot to be interpreted here. The game design and the music we hear is really fantastic and the player directly notices the love and effort that went into creating this experience. I have found 3 or 4 little bugs, but they are not bad, no, they have to help me a little bit. Yes, I’m a little bit happy that I found them! It is in these cute little details that make the very important first impression.

It reminds me a little bit of “Night in the Woods”, “Hollow Knight”, “Ori and the Blind Forest” or “Limbo” from the atmospheric or how you play it.

Neversong is a cute and yet dark experience that simply must be played. I love and I hope we see more games like this. It is a visually stunning game comes out on May 20, 2020.

And don’t forget to watch Thomas Brush (The game maker) Youtube videos as he makes and plays the games.
