Celebrate July 4th with Alex Foley

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly 40 years since Axel Foley first hit our screens in the iconic “Beverly Hills Cop.” Now, after all these years, Eddie Murphy brings back Detective Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” The original happens to be a big favorite of mine and I’m excited to see what the film has in store. Directed by Mark Molloy, a big fan of the original, he brings together a blend of old and new. The storyline follows Axel Foley as he teams up with his daughter, played by Taylour Paige, and a fresh-faced partner portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Adding to the nostalgia are returning characters Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), who join forces once again with Axel Foley to unravel a complex conspiracy. Alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective Abbott, Kevin Bacon plays Captain Cade Grant. In a recent “Daily Show” interview, Bacon talked about how he enjoys playing the ‘bad guy’ and no doubt he’ll be fabulous!

Scheduled for release in the United States on July 3rd, Netflix is bringing this eagerly anticipated sequel promises to reignite the thrill and humor that made the original a classic. The trailer looks promising.

Molloy is entrusted with bringing this beloved franchise back to life, and he remembers as a kid in Australia, watching it for the first time. I had an Axel Foley poster up on my bedroom wall just like everyone else, even in Australia. His personal connection to the character underscores the universal appeal of Axel Foley and the enduring impact of “Beverly Hills Cop” on global pop culture. Hopefully, we’ll get some synthesizer good vibes as we welcome back Axel Foley.
