Marvel fans stay winning!
Marvel Studios returned to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and the panel left fans excited for what’s to come. Marvel’s Studio Head Kevin Feige walked fans through what to expect from the next 2 phases of the MCU. This includes upcoming films and Disney+ series.
Marvel Welcomes You to The Multiverse Saga.
First up probably the biggest news is we have a title for Phases 4-6. Aptly titled fans can expect new stories, new characters, and a lot of surprises in this expanding cinematic universe. UP next for Phase 4 we have “She-Hulk” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” which Kevin Feige has confirmed will conclude Phase 4.
It’s true she’s a hulk.
“She-Hulk” is a new series coming to Disney+ stars Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) a lawyer specializing in legal cases involving superhuman’s who also happens to be Bruce Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) cousin. “She-Hulk” follows Jen as she tries to find a work-life balance. Only it’s not so easy when she ends up a six-foot super-powered Hulk. Now with her cousin’s help, Jen must work to master the way of the Hulk and face off against threats like The Abomination (Tim Roth) and Titania (Jameela Jamil). The series is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia; Jessica Gao is the executive producer and head writer. At the end of the new “She-Hulk,” trailer, fans spotted a figure that looked a lot like everyone’s favorite horned vigilante. Only this time was sporting a new or more accurately an old look. In a few quick shots captured from the trailer, Matt Murdock is seen sporting his iconic red and yellow suit.

During an interview with Collider, “She-Hulk,” Jessica Gao confirmed that Charlie Cox will be in the show. I don’t think we ever, in a million years, thought that we would be allowed to use them because we didn’t know what the status was of the character, and then, I can’t remember how, we got wind that he was coming back and that it was Charlie Cox, and we were like, ‘Wait, does that I mean we can use him? Are we allowed?’ And when they told us, yeah, I mean, we couldn’t believe it, we thought we were being pranked. We just kept writing him in, and we kept rolling with the story just thinking like, ‘Okay, any moment now they’re going to tell us we can’t use them. They made a mistake. They don’t have the rights, But it just kept [becoming] more and more real. And it was so hard to keep that secret!
From the sound of its fans can expect to see a lot of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil before he makes his return in a new series, titled “Daredevil: Born Again.” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is streaming on Disney+ starting August 18, 2022. Here’s a look at the trailer.
“Black Panther: WAKANDA FOREVER”
This November, Phase Four comes to a close with “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The first teaser trailer dropped during the panel and there’s a lot to unpack.
Mourning a King.
Phase 5
“Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania”
Kicking off Phase 5 is “Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” The poster showcases the return of Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hope Van-Dyne/The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), and Scott’s daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) is making her debut as Stinger. Sporting their new suits they look ready to take on the MCU’s next major villain Kang the Conqueror.
The film was originally slated for release on July 28, but later swapped dates with “The Marvels” since it was further along in production. Marvel as always is keeping things heavily under wraps so not much else is known about the film’s plot.
What we do know is that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) will play a huge part in the upcoming film, most likely being the star villain.
Kang made his first appearance in the final episode of the hit Disney+ series “Loki.” In the show, Kang is just another variant controlling the TVA. While we haven’t seen him in action we can assume his powers of time travel and impact on the Multiverse will draw in Lang and his crew to try and stop him.
“Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania” arrives in theaters on February 17, 2023.
“Secret Invasion”
Next in the lineup is Marvel’s “Secret Invasion.” The mini-series will be premiering on Disney+. The synopsis reads that the shape-shifting aliens known as Skrulls have been at large and infiltrating Earth for years since the events of Captain Marvel. Fans and characters will be left wondering who they can trust.
Cobie Smulders who plays ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill reveals that the show will be a dark thriller. We can expect to see plenty of familiar faces return such as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), the Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), CIA Agent Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman), and James Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle). Emilia Clark, Kingsley Benedict, and Olivia Cols are just some of the stars who will be joining the cast of this “crossover event series”.
A BTS look reveals Nick Fury’s return to Earth meeting up with an angry Maria Hill who demands where he’s been for the past few years. Nick of course doesn’t give out any details answering with a cryptic “there was an issue that needed his attention.” Given the history of the Skrulls and the connection to Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) through Nick Fury and Talos, we can expect there to be some tie-in with “The Marvels.”
“Secret Invasion” is streaming on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
“Guardians of the Galaxy 3”
*SPOILERS for “Thor: Love and Thunder”*
James Gunn took to the stage to give fans an update on the project. We know filming was completed in April and he confirmed the soundtrack is done. Gunn has taken to Twitter to give updates on the project and answer fans’ burning questions. Specific details about the plot are still under wraps but Gunn promised it will be an “epic conclusion” to the series. A sneak peek during the con gave fans a look at baby Rocket and his origins. When asked about the movie’s tone Gunn described the third movie as “pretty heavy”.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” gave us a look at what the Guardians have been up to since “Endgame.” Traveling the Galaxy with Thor responding to distress calls across the universe. Someone known as the God Butcher is killing Gods and destroying planets.
After receiving a distress call from Sif, Starlord suggests they split up, Thor will rescue Sif while the Guardians will respond to other distress calls. A tearful goodbye from Thor sees the Guardians warping back into space. So the third installment might pick up from there or we could see them face off against a new threat. them in the middle of a battle against some other threat.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3” arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023. “GotG: The Holiday Special” is streaming on Disney+ in December.
“Echo”
Another Disney+ Original series Echo will be a live-action limited series spin-off from the “Hawkeye” series. Alaqua Cox will be reprising her role as “Echo.” The synopsis reads Maya Lopez must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.
Fans can expect to see more of her past and what happened since we last left off with her in “Hawkeye.” We might also get appearances from Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Matt Murdock(Charlie Cox).
“Echo” is streaming on Disney+ in 2023
“Loki” Season 2
Everyone’s favorite villain turned hero is back! Loki season 2 has already begun filming and we’ve got a sneak peek look at the stars on set in London. Photos taken by Splashnews caught Tom Hiddleston looking very dapper in a tux on set with co-star Sophia DiMartino at a McDonald’s. An interview on Jimmy Kimmel with Hiddleston confirmed that the whole cast is set to return for Season 2. Season 1 writers Michael Waldron and Eric Martin are also returning, with Martin taking over as the head writer.
So far Marvel’s Disney+ series have been self-contained with only mild references to the larger MCU. However given that “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” deals directly with Kang it will be interesting to see how the film’s events impact Season 2. Loki’s Season 1 finale left the show open to many new possibilities being explored and storylines hopefully getting a resolution. The biggest point of Season 2 will be seeing how everyone navigates the chaos created in the wake of Sylvie killing He Who Remains.
After being kicked out of the Citadel Loki tries to warn Morbius of the impending war not knowing he’s already too late.
“Someone is coming. Countless different versions of a very dangerous person. And they’re all set on war. We need to prepare.”
In the blink of an eye, the war Sylvie started was fought and won by Kang the Conqueror. A man whose goal is to seize control over all of time and reality in every universe. Everything changed with the TVA now under Kang’s control. Leaving only Loki and Sylvie with their memories still intact to take on Kang.
Loki season 2 is streaming on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.
“The Marvels”
“The Marvels” is set to be an epic team-up between Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). In an interview with Vanity Fair actress Zawe Ashton confirmed she’ll play the main villain General All-Dan a Kree ruler.
With “Secret Invasion” being adapted into a Disney+ series and the end credits scene from Ms. Marvel things are shaping up to be an epic adventure for “The Marvels.” We know the Kree and Skrull will be involved heavily in the story.
Though the scene is short it sets up so much for “The Marvels.” Without warning, Kamala’s bangle activates and she switches places with Carol. Which begs the question of where Kamala went. This might be what brings all the Marvels together in a search for Kamala.
“The Marvels” arrives in theaters on July 28, 2023.
“Blade”
A “Blade” reboot is officially in the works. Mahershala Ali will star as Blade/Eric Cross Brooks, everyone’s favorite half-human half-vampire. Blade or Eric Cross Brooks is a “dhampir”. Someone who is born from a human and a vampire. Using his powers Blade hunts down vampires and any other dark creatures of the night. Bassam Tariq is set to be the director and Stacy Osei-Kuffour will be the screenwriter.
“Blade” arrives in theaters on Nov. 3, 2023.
“IronHeart”
“Ironheart” is an upcoming Disney+ series created by Chinaka Hodge. Dominique Thorn is cast as Riri Williams.
For those unfamiliar with her story, Ironheart or Riri Williams is a young genius who, much like Peter Parker, was inspired by Tony Stark. She pursued her passion for tech and eventually at 15 ended up creating a next-generation IronMan suit. We know from the trailer that “Black Panther” 2 will serve as her debut. Giving fans a chance to get to know her character before her tv show premieres.
As usual for their upcoming projects, Marvel likes to keep things under wraps. So while we don’t have any details on a plot yet chances are it will pick up sometime after the events of BP 2. So far the Disney+ series have been self-contained but it would be interesting to have Shuri or even Peter make an appearance at some point.
“Ironheart” is streaming on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.
“Agatha: Coven of Chaos”
Agatha is back in town. That’s right, everyone’s favorite villainess is back. Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in the upcoming Wanadavision Spin-off. The series title was officially changed from Agatha House of Harkness to “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” No new details about the story have been released.
We can assume that the story will either take a look back at her past or pick up after the events of “WandaVision.” Whatever the case may be, here’s hoping the show’s theme song will be “Agatha All Along”.
“Agatha Coven of Chaos” is streaming on Disney+ in the Winter of 2023.
“Daredevil: Born Again”
Back in 2015 before Disney+ existed, the home of Marvel tv was on Netflix. Marvel and ABC Studios teamed up to create a set of interconnected series for the streaming giant. Kicking off the Netflix-Marvel Universe was “Daredevil” in 2015. Followed by Jessica Jones (2015–2019), Luke Cage (2016–2018), Iron Fist (2017–2018), and a crossover miniseries “The Defenders” in 2017. A spin-off from “Daredevil,” “The Punisher” ran for 2 seasons (2017–2019).
Sadly “Daredevil” was canceled after a 3 season run in 2018. Along with Netflix’s other Marvel shows after a 2 or 3-season run before their cancellation ending the Netflix-Marvel era. This was in large part due to the rise of Disney+ and Marvel only loaning the character and story rights to Netflix. Back in March 2021 all the Marvel shows left Netflix and landed on Disney+ as the rights reverted back to Disney and Marvel Studios.
Since the end of the Netflix series fans have been waiting for Daredevil’s return to the MCU. In a cameo appearance during “Spider-Man: No Way Home” Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock. Similarly, Vincent Defario made his return as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the Disney+ miniseries “Hawkeye.”
Now, with “Daredevil” characters slowly being integrated into the MCU a new series titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” set to be 18 episodes will premiere on Disney+ in 2024. However, fans won’t have to wait that long as Cox has nabbed a feature role in the upcoming Disney+ series “She-Hulk.” No word yet on if the full cast will return, but we can be sure that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will once again return as Daredevil and the Kingpin. The series will be helmed by Matt Corman and Chris Ord as the executive producer and co-head writer’s for the show.
When rumors of a “Daredevil” reboot on Disney+ floated around fans were worried the service would try and keep it Pg-13. However, with Disney adding parental locks and the arrival of Logan and Deadpool chances are “Daredevil” will grab a TV-MA rating like its Netflix counterpart. Marvel fans can expect to see a grim tone and the brutal violence that “Daredevil” is known for.
“Daredevil: Born Again” is streaming on Disney+ in Spring 2024
“Captain America: New World Order”
A new Captain America film is coming to theatres. Only this time it won’t be Steve Rogers sporting the Stars and Stripes. Anthony Mackie will be returning as Sam Wilson formerly The Falcon making his solo film debut as Captain America. Since the end of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Marvel Studios and Mackie have teased fans about the potential for a Captain America 4. Now it’s here along with an official title “Captain America: New World Order” and the logo has been revealed.
Sadly the Russo brothers (directors of the previous two Captain America and Avengers films) will not be returning to their director chairs. Instead, Julius Onah will be taking their place. Although the film will have a new director, back in April 2021, The Hollywood Reporter announced that creator, showrunner, and writer for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Malcolm Spellman along with fellow show writer Dalan Musson would be co-writing the script.
As of now, no details on the plot or additional cast members have been released. With the next and last movie in Phase 5 being “Thunderbolts,” it’s safe to assume it will be connected if not a direct follow-up to “Captain America: New World Order.” So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sebastian Stan returned as Bucky Barnes and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.
“Captain America: New World Order,” arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024.
“Thunderbolts”
*SPOILERS for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*
A report from Deadline reveals that Jake Schreier will be the film’s director, while Black Widow writer Eric Pearson is ahead of the script and finally, Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige will be taking on the role of producer.
As of now, all we know about the film’s plot is that it centers around a group of villains tapped by the government to complete off-the-book missions, think DC’s Suicide Squad. One villain, in particular, has a high chance of being tapped for the team.
Picked by the government to be the new Captain America, U.S. Army veteran John Walker, seemed like the perfect candidate to pick up the shield and become America’s new symbol of hope. However, things quickly went south after Walker killed one of the Flag-Smashers members on camera for the world to see. The government quickly labeled him as problematic and dumped him. At least that’s the official report in secret he was being recruited by the mysterious Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for an unknown project. With no details on what that project is fans might see Walker take on a role similar to Rick Flag from the “Suicide Squad.”
Feige confirmed Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” will end Phase 5 and arrive in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Phase 6 remains largely unknown except for three films confirmed to be a part of it. Right now all we know is that a new “Fantastic Four” film will kick off this phase while “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” will close it out.
Fantastic Four
During the panel, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed that there is a new Fantastic Four movie in the works and it will be the start of Phase 6.
This will be the fourth adaptation of “Fantastic Four.” Version one was brought to the silver screen in 2005 with Chris Evans notably playing Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. With a sequel hitting theaters in 2007. A reboot in 2015 retold their story with Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige explained that the Fantastic Four film will not be another origin story. “A lot of people know this origin story,” he said. “A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?”
Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” got the same treatment and it makes perfect sense. Instead wasting screen time rehashing a story that’s been told repeatedly Marvel is jumping right into the main story. Feige promises they will pull out all the stops to ensure the movie’s success. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen,” he said.
With no reports on casting, fans are hoping John Krasinki will return as Reed Richards. In 2018, when a Reddit user posted fan art of John Krasinski as Reed Richards fans have been begging Marvel to cast Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic. Fans got their wish when Krasinski appeared as an alternate Reed Richards in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Sadly his role was cut short after Wanda brutally slaughtered the Illuminati.
For now, we will just have to wait and see if Marvel decides to bring him back. As for the plot, since Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters nearly a year later on November 7, 2025, the two films might be connected. Given it’s exactly what Marvel did with “Infinity War and Endgame.” Now that Marvel is taking things to a bigger scale it wouldn’t be a stretch to think we might end up with Galactus as the main villain.
“Fantastic Four” arrives in theaters on November 8, 2024.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
Earth’s mightiest heroes will be back with double the action. Two new Avengers movies “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” are in the works. With “Secret Wars” set to close out Phase 6. The films are set to release a mere six months apart in 2025. So fans won’t have to wait long before seeing the next installment. “The Kang Dynasty” looks to adapt the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name by Kurt Busiek. Feige revealed that the Russo brothers would not be directing instead “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Deston Daniel Crettin will be overseeing “The Kang Dynasty.” No reports yet on who will direct “Secret Wars.”
“Endgame” marked a major turning point for the MCU. After the death of Iron Man and Steve Rogers’s retirement, the Avengers were left without a leader. So who can we expect to take charge in the face-off against Kang? Well, Marvel has set Dr. Strange to become the new leader of The New Avengers.
With no details on the plot, we can expect that “Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Loki” Season 2 will lay a lot of the groundwork for getting the audience familiar with his character before setting up an epic face-off between the Avengers and Kang.
“Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” arrives in theaters on May 2, 2025.
Avengers: Secret Wars
“Avengers: Secret Wars,” the newly announced sixth Avengers movie, will bring an end to Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga to a close. Marvel’s already announced the director for “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” while the other two Phase Six films have yet to land a filmmaker. This marks another change for the MCU given “Avengers” and “Age of Ultron” were directed by Joss Whedon and then the Russo Brothers directed “Infinity War” and “Endgame.” Though the Russo Brothers have made it known they would love to direct “Secret Wars.”
While we don’t know the exact story we can expect this to be the biggest crossover event in MCU history bigger than even Endgame. In the comics “Secret Wars” was a 12-issue series that saw some of the most powerful Marvel characters heroes and villains alike face off in an epic showdown.
“Avengers: Secret Wars,” arrives in theaters on November 7, 2025.
There you have it. Every new project coming up in the next MCU phases from Hall J.
