A new season means plenty of new anime to watch. Whether it’s shows returning for another season or a series premiere here are the ones to watch for Spring 2023.
Dr. STONE New World
Season Synopsis: Season 3 is back titled Dr. STONE NEW WORLD, and will follow Senku and the Kingdom of Science as they set sail on a new adventure. Follow them as they journey to new lands and uncover more scientific secrets!

Season 3 is set to run for 2 courses. It will be a direct sequel to Season 2 and Dr. Stone Ryusui (an hour-long TV special set between S2 and S3). The series will follow Senku and co. as they set sail out on the open sea in search of the source of the revival formula. A new season means new characters will be introduced. Here is a look at two new major characters who will be joining the Kingdom of Science.
Francois– voiced by Maaya Sakamoto (Ryusui’s faithful butler. Revived for their culinary skills.)
Ryusui Nanami- voiced by Ryota Suzuki (Son of the owner of Nanami Conglomerate. Revived for his skills as an expert navigator.)

Hell’s Paradise
Series Synopsis: Escorted by personal executioners ten death row convicts are all sent by the shogun to the mysterious island of Kotak to retrieve the Elixir of Life. The first convict to retrieve the Elixir of Life and return home alive will earn the reward of being pardoned for all their crimes.

Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku (地獄楽, Jigokuraku) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yūji Kaku. The manga was serialized in Shonen Jump on January 22, 2018. The story follows Gabimaru, formerly the strongest shinobi in Iwagakure who’s been sentenced to death row. Unable to die, Gabimaru is offered a deal. If he finds the Elixir of Life on Shinsenkyo and returns with his Yamada Asaemon executioner he’ll be pardoned for all his crimes.

Eden’s Zero – Season 2
Season Synopsis: Now that all four shining stars have been assembled Shiki and the crew of Edens Zero can finally begin the journey beyond the Sakura Cosmos.

Everything We Know So Far
Edens Zero is an internationally licensed Netflix Original Japanese anime series. Edens Zero is adapted from the manga series of the same name by author Hiro Mashima (the creator of Fairy Tail). The official Twitter account for the anime announced season two on Oct 2nd, 2022. Currently, Netflix has not made any statement on when or if Edens Zero’s second season will be coming to the platform. If it does, sadly we can expect Season 2 to be stuck in “Netflix Jail” for several months before the global release.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Swordsmith Village Arc
Season Synopsis: Hoping to find the blacksmith who forged his sword, Hotaru Haganezuka Tanjiro must travel to the swordsmith village to repair his damaged sword.

Season 3 will follow Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps. as they continue their battles in the Swordsmith Village Arc! Tanjiro and the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito must work together as they face off against multiple upper-rank demons. Back in March fans got a sneak peek at the first episode of the new season with the premiere of a special showcase titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village! The special screening included the remastered episodes 10 and 11 of the Entertainment District Arc and the first episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc.

Golden Kamuy – Season 4 Part 2
Season Synopsis: Sugimoto and Asirpa continue their journey to find the legendary gold stolen from the Ainu!

Everything We Know So Far
Golden Kamuy Season 4 began airing back at the beginning of October 2022. After episode six dropped in November the show announced it was going on a short hiatus due to the death of an unnamed main staff member during production. The team at Brain’s Base on Twitter announced in March the hiatus will end on April 3rd. The studio will re-air the first episode of the season before continuing its run schedule.

The KONOSUBA franchise returns in an explosive new spin-off series starring Megumin. The series is set to follow Megumin and her life before she joined up with Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness. The anime series is based on the original light novel spin-off series Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World created by Natsume Akatsuki and Masahito Watari.

Mix: Meisei Story- Our Second Summer, Beyond the Sky
Season Synopsis: A new season of Mitsuru Adachi’s baseball anime series takes another swing!

Mix: Meisei Story aired back in the Spring of 2019 and ran for 24 episodes. The series serves as a sequel to the 1985 baseball manga series, Touch. Mix: Meisei Story is a sports anime that follows two step-brothers Tōma and Sōichirō as they aim to take their high school baseball team back to the Kōshien (High School Baseball Championship). A new season comes as a shock to fans as the series first aired over four years ago. The final episode seemed to wrap up the series nicely and with no news of a second season fans assumed the series was ao-and-done. The official Twitter account for the Mix: Meisei Story anime announced on Feb 9th, 2023 that a second season would premiere in April. The second season is set to take place after the summer of the boy’s first year of high school.

Vinland Saga- Season 2 Cour 2
Season Synopsis: When Thorfinn loses it all, he must find his new purpose for living in a strange new land.

Season 2 will follow “Thorfinn as he struggles to find a new purpose in life after the death of Askeladd. Bought by the landowner Ketil as a ‘slave’, Thorfinn meets Einar, another slave who forces Thorfinn to confront his past mistakes.” The series will see a studio change as MAPPA Studios will be taking over production from Wit Studio. It’s reported that much of the production staff from Season 1 will remain the same.

RANKING OF KINGS: THE TREASURE CHEST OF COURAGE
Series Synopsis: Get ready for a new collection of stories from Ranking of Kings!

Premiering last year the series became a huge hit with fans and was in the running to win Crunchyroll’s Anime of the Year award. Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage is a series special set to run for several episodes. While there’s no official episode count yet it’s sure to bring plenty of cute moments.

Magical Destroyers
Series Synopsis: After otaku culture is destroyed in Japan, revolutionaries are born to create a new nerd world!

Set in a dystopian future where otaku culture in Japan has been obliterated by a mysterious organization known as “SSC”, Magical Girl Destroyers follows a young revolutionary who loves otaku culture – Otaku Hero and Anarchy, Blue, and Pink, a trio of magical girls who admire him work together to create “a world where you can say what you like about what you like as much as you like.” The anime was created by designer JUN INAGAWA with Hiroshi Ikehata directing.

OPUS.COLORS
Series Synopsis: Art, music, and technology collide in an elite academy in the new series Opus.COLORs!

Opus.COLORs is an original TV anime and story by Rin Hinata. Shunsuke Tada (Kuroko’s Basketball) serves as the director. Opus.COLORs follows three boys Kazuya, Jun, and their estranged childhood friend Kyo as they chase their dreams to become Perception Artists at Eisen High School, a prestigious art school.

Skip and Loafer
Series Synopsis: A country mouse enters a top-tier Tokyo high school and learns the new life of the city!

Everything We Know So Far
Skip and Loafer, is a TV anime based on the rom-com manga by Misaki Takamatsu. Skip and Loafer is being directed by Kotomi Deai (Silver Spoon, Natsume’s Book of Friends 5), who also serves as the series composer. The series follows Iwakura Mitsumi as she transfers to a top-tier high school in Tokyo. She may be a genius when it comes to her studies but social life is a whole other matter. Her easygoing nature sways her classmates little by little, and all their different personalities are coming together before they know it.
