This May, National Geographic invites audiences to savor a rich and unforgettable journey through Italy with acclaimed actor and food enthusiast, Stanley Tucci, in the all-new series Tucci in Italy. Premiering May 18 at 8/7c, the five-part series promises a mouthwatering and deeply personal tour of the country’s most iconic—and surprising—culinary landscapes. All episodes will stream the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.

Produced by Tucci’s own SALT Productions and BBC Studios’ Specialist Factual Productions, Tucci in Italy is far more than a standard travel show. It’s a visually stunning, narrative-driven exploration that fuses Italy’s storied history, breathtaking scenery, and unparalleled cuisine. From bustling cities to quiet mountain villages, each episode dives deep into the heart of Italian culture through its food. “Italy is a feast for the senses, and Tucci in Italy is an invitation to the table,” Tucci says. “It’s about more than just the food; it’s about the people, the history, and the passion that makes Italy so special.”

Throughout the series, Tucci connects with local chefs, artisans, fishermen, cowboys, and passionate food lovers who share their stories, traditions, and recipes. With National Geographic’s signature immersive storytelling and Tucci’s undeniable charm, Tucci in Italy offers a fresh and intimate take on a country where food is at the heart of everything.

Across five diverse episodes, viewers will be treated to unique and memorable moments:

“Tuscany” (Premieres May 18 at 8/7c)

Tucci revisits Florence, where he spent part of his youth, and samples a surprising breakfast dish. He also joins traditional Tuscan cowboys on a ranch and feasts beneath the Tuscan sun during Siena’s iconic Palio.

“Lombardy” (Premieres May 18 at 9/8c)

In Italy’s industrial hub, Tucci explores a culinary future shaped by innovation. From dishes created with space-age farming to fine ingredients growing beside steel factories, Lombardy challenges the traditional food narrative.

“Trentino-Alto Adige” (Premieres May 25 at 8/7c)

Tucci heads north to a region rich in both Alpine beauty and cultural complexity. Here, he samples pine needle pesto, skis to a polenta feast, and uncovers how a history of border conflicts shaped the local cuisine.

“Abruzzo” (Premieres June 1 at 8/7c)

Visiting this rugged, lesser-known region for the first time, Tucci explores highland sheep country, cooks mutton over open flames, and enjoys a uniquely French-tinged Sunday lunch. He also discovers the sweet origin of Italy’s famous candy confetti.

“Lazio” (Premieres June 8 at 8/7c)

Leaving the bustle of Rome behind, Tucci journeys into Lazio’s rustic countryside to uncover traditional dishes that connect the ancient metropolis with its rural roots—from porchetta and fish stew to spring lamb and Roman-style pizza.

Tucci in Italy is a celebration of the ingredients, stories, and spirit that define Italian cuisine. Whether you’re a foodie, a traveler, or simply a lover of great storytelling, this series serves up a delicious adventure that feeds both the appetite and the soul. Don’t miss this immersive culinary expedition—Tucci in Italy premieres May 18 on National Geographic and begins streaming May 19 on Disney+ and Hulu.
