It has been a difficult 15 months for convention-goers. With the cancellations of so many large and small comic conventions and fan events due to Covid, recent guest announcements for upcoming events feel like the sun coming out after a storm. Yesterday, a cataclysmic announcement was made. A-Lister Ewan McGregor will be attending the Celebrity Fan Fest on July 31st and August 1st, to be held in San Antonio next month.
Celebrity Fan Fest is 10 days of pop culture, with celebrity autographs and photo ops, celebrity panels, musical performers, and more. In addition, tickets include admission to Six Flags in Fiesta Texas, the host of the festival. In an announcement on June 1st PMX Events President Bob Willis recently announced, “After a year-long hiatus, we’re coming back bigger than ever with a longer show and more celebrity appearances.” Guests previously announced include Charlie Cox from the streaming Marvel series, “Daredevil,” actress Krysten Ritter from “Jessica Jones,” and Mike Colter from “Luke Cage.” Hayden Christensen, Anakin/ Darth Vader from the “Star Wars” Prequels was also announced yesterday. More guests are to be announced soon.

With filming of the “Kenobi series” in process now, both actors are likely to be in high demand when tickets go on sale today at 11 am Central Time. Prices for the autographs and photo ops are not yet known. SWUA is also providing a send-in auto option for Ewan autographs. People can reserve a send-in spot at 12 pm eastern time today.
Ewan recently appeared with Pedro Pascal on Variety’s “Actors in Actors” series. Among the many topics discussed were Yoda and Grogu, the changes in filming technology since the prequels, and they offered some personal opinions and insights about both “the Mandalorian” and the “Kenobi” series. Pascal announced that while there is no current filming, there will be a third season of “The Mandalorian.” “The Kenobi” series will premiere next year.
