“True Blood” fans will be excited to hear that Stephen Moyer is back, starring in a new series.
“Art Detectives” is an upcoming new show that will follow the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department consisting of art-loving DI Mick Palmer played by Moyer, and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik played by Nina Singh. They will work together to solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques. Mick Palmer: Sounds like the perfect name for a detective, don’t you think? Throughout the season, the detectives will encounter a fake Vermeer, Viking gold, a rare Chinese vase, and items rescued from the Titanic. It’s a rich and colorful world driven by greed, obsession, lust, and revenge. Not only will the art be aesthetically pleasing, but it will be filmed entirely in Belfast and the surrounding countryside of Northern Ireland. I’m looking forward to some lovely cinematography.
Fans know the series co-stars Nina Singh from “Chemistry of Death” and “The Lazarus Project,” Sarah Alexander from “Coupling” and “Green Wing”, and Larry Lamb from “Gavin & Stacey” and “EastEnders.” Stephen Moyer is looking forward to the project.
I’m very excited to bring the slightly quirky Mick Palmer to life in this wonderfully creative detective series, shares Moyer. The writing team on Art Detectives have done a great job of cleverly weaving together intriguing storylines, notable pieces of art and a bit of history thrown in for good measure. I’m excited to lead the cast along with the lovely Nina Singh, brilliantly funny Sarah Alexander and my dear old pal Larry Lamb.
The series is produced by Black Dog Television and co-produced and distributed by Dynamic Television. It promises to deliver a visually stunning experience while unraveling the dark underbelly of the art world. The show is due out sometime in 2025 and will be featured on Acorn TV.
