“Supernatural” aired its fifth episode, ‘Proverbs 17:3,’ and it was directed by the show’s alum Richard Speight, Jr. This was his second to last episode as a director on “Supernatural,” and what an episode it was! When Speight directs, something magical. This past episode had the Speight magic dripped all over it, and amazing acting as always. Spoilers from here!
Let’s talk about our feelings after this one. One of the first heart pounding scenes that occurs in this episode is Sam’s dream when he falls asleep in the car. We see “Samifer” in the white suit, immediate PTSD vibes. Another dream that ends with a dead brother, Dean is approaching “Samifer” with what looks like to be the colt, and pulls the trigger. “Samifer” is dead, for a second at least. He heals himself and burns Dean alive, then Sam wakes up. What a way to start!

I’m sure throughout the beginning of the episode your heart is broken for Ashley, the girls whose friends were murdered in front of her on a camping trip. This is all seeming very monster of the week, and a normal amount of drama is included. No Cas in this episode, he is seemingly ignoring the boys.
The victim Ashley, played by the amazing Anna Grace Barlow, is really shaken up and quickly forms a bond with Dean. Also, the monsters are identified basically asap by her. It is all too easy. It is a bit weird when Ashley asks to stay with the boys and winds up in the motel with them, and then asks Dean to stay. Of course she is clearly shaken up and her and Dean share a heart to heart about life. But Dean falls asleep and wakes up to Sam in the room and Ashley gone; they realize that the werewolves took her.
After they show up at the house where she is at, Sam even starts to doubt what is happening but they hear screams and barge on in. They save her, but the werewolves come after them, and they start to fight. There was tension building between the werewolves in this episode; they are brothers and one of them is really evil. A huge fight scene ensues and ends shockingly when one werewolf brother shoots the other before killing himself, citing what monsters they both were. Ashley freaks out, tries to leaves, pulls away from Dean and then falls and gets impaled!
Dead, she lays in front of them, Dean in shock, both in disbelief. Then all of a sudden she stands and heals herself and reveals who she is, her eyes go white, it’s Lilith. They both freak out of course, while Lilith explains that Chuck brought her back to mess with the boys and to foreshadow their deaths. She explains that the way the brother werewolves died is how Chuck wants this story to end. She explains that she can’t kill them, but that she needs the equalizer gun that injured God. Dean tries his best to outsmart her while Sam is rendered unconscious but by the time he catches up to them, she has already figured out where the gun is. After a failed attempt to trap her, she captures them, finds the gun and destroys in front of them before making a swift exit.
Dean is crushed, the fandom is shocked. How could Lilith be back? What does this mean for the boys? Dean explains to Sam about Chuck’s plan for their deaths and that’s when Sam tells Dean about his dreams, and how they all end. Dean has seemingly given up, he feels defeated. When the episode ends it pulls out to reveal two stage curtains waiting to be pulled, further pushing forward Chuck’s story. Chuck is really messing with the boys and their is no way this will end well. Stay tuned on Nerd Alert News for more “Supernatural” related content.
