“Supernatural” recap of ‘Jack in the Box’, with only one episode left in season 14, this episode was definitely an interesting one. Spoilers ahead!!!

The fans received a lot of emotion Thursday night. Jack was still on the run from the prior episode, still reeling from Mary’s death, and not being able to fix it. He knew that the Winchesters were mad at him, and didn’t have anywhere to go. Sam and Dean were also dealing with their mother’s death and held a wake in the bunker. There was a heart-wrenching scene where we see Dean crying, and finally processing his emotion; not through anger.

Cas felt responsible and helpless for Jack and visited heaven to ask the angel Dumah for help with tracking down his “son.” Dumah learned how powerful Jack was, and agreed to find him. However, she, along with most others in Jack’s short life, went on to manipulate him. She convinced him to kill people who did not stand with Heaven and would smite them according to the bible. She used him and his vulnerable state for personal gain. The angel even had him to try to create new angels. Cas and the Winchesters found out about this and Cas tried to help Jack.

Cas tried to reason with Dumah, but since she was a righteous angel, that did not go well. Cas ended up killing her. He tried to take Jack somewhere safe. However, at the same time, a distraught Dean had come up with a horrible plan to take care of Jack. Dean wanted to trap Jack in the Ma’lak box, which should have been powerful enough to contain him, as payback for Mary’s death. He convinced Sam that he has to be the one to manipulate Jack into the box sighting the trust between them. Sam reluctantly agreed. It was surprisingly simple to get Jack into the box by telling him he has to wait there while they performed a spell to restore his soul.

Eventually, Jack realized it was a trap, and he was not happy! At the same time, Cas returned to the bunker, clueless and naive, and trying to help Jack. He soon found out what the Winchesters had done. Before he could do anything, a large explosion rocks the bunker. The boys ran to the room where Jack was and found the box in shambles. The last thing the audience saw was Jack’s glowing eyes coming out of the smoke straight towards the boys.

This episode really put into perspective how Jack honestly thought about by the people in his life. He has been used and manipulated since he was in the womb, and now when he needed the most help, mostly everyone was against him. The boys should have realized that Mary’s death was a horrific accident and that he actually needed help. Jack losing his soul was certainly not his fault. Cas seemed to be the only one trying to save Jack, but will he succeed? Check out the preview for next week’s season finale.

The Jack storyline seems to be coming to a sad end. A few things could happen in the upcoming finale…Jack could die, Mary could come back or God himself can show. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, this season will definitely end with a bang. Watch the season finale of “Supernatural”, Thursday at 8:00 PM ET.
