Revenge is a powerful theme in tonight’s “Doctor Who” episode ‘The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos’. A seemingly unstoppable being who thinks that he and re-write the laws of the universe is seeking revenge, but he’s not the only one.

3,407 years ago nine different distress signals were sent out and have now been received by the TARDIS. Mark Addy guest stars as a lost commander whose memories have been a bit scrambled and needs to get his crew back alive. He joins the Doctor, Graham, Yaz, and Ryan in the middle of a battlefield filled with eerie mist and a strange floating object hovering above.

Struggling with all of their memories being affected by the planet’s nature forces, the group tries to figure out what had happened. They all have a lot of questions and Graham it not happy with what they have found. Have they actually come across the creature from Sheffield that killed his beloved Grace? This opportunity will only come once and how will he handle it?
She is pretty impressed by this race of dimential engineers called the Ux that can affect the shape of the universe by simple thought. Too bad they are blindly following a false god that has endangered entire worlds; one of which is Earth. The Doctor has a plan, but will it work to save them all? Can it save Earth?

Thankfully no matter how tense the drama can be, Chris Chibnall always slips in some witty humor. This season finale, like this entire season, has been a fresh and witty take on the legendary Doctor. Jodie Whittaker captured what it is to be Doctor Who and brilliantly played the character. Although Whovians will have to wait until 2020 for the next season, they can look forward to what appears to be an intense New Year’s Eve special.

As the New Year begins, a terrifying evil is stirring from across the centuries of Earth’s history. As the Doctor, Ryan, Graham, and Yaz return home, will they be able to overcome the threat to 7 billion people on planet Earth?
