I dare fans not to get goosebumps while watching the trailer for the final season of “Star Trek: Picard.” This sneak peek was released on Jan. 29, 2023, and it showed the promise of all the thrills, all the humor, and all the emotions. Watching the original Next Gen crew come together again after so many years brings back a flood of memories of my early 20s when I was introduced to this new team. I never thought I’d like another Starship captain as much as Captain Kirk, but I fell hard for Jean-Luc Picard and his version of the Enterprise. Over the years I’ve seen most of the actors at conventions, heard their stories, and grown to love them even more. Adding even more emotion to this third and final season was the loss of actress Annie Wersching who played the Borg Queen. RIP.
Welcome back Patrick Stewart who reprises his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” and follows this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd star alongside Patrick Stewart in the third and final season of the hit Paramount+ original series.
The final season of ‘Star Trek: Picard” will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 16 exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., with new episodes of the 10-episode-long season available to stream weekly on Thursdays. Also, the trailer revealed two new cast members. Ed Speleers (“Outlander,” “You”) will play a role to aid Beverly Crusher’s medical efforts on worlds Starfleet has forgotten, and Todd Stashwick (“12 Monkeys,” “Riches” ) has a recurring role as captain of the U.S.S. Titan.
