Make your way through a pitch black alien world at Maker Faire Denver Oct. 13-14, 2018 at the National Western Complex.
In the age where escape rooms are so popular, this highlight of the faire, “Mission to Nocterra” will encourage attendees to utilize all of the other senses without the benefit of sight. According to Maker Faire Denver Director, Dan Griner, “It’s a chance to explore your senses and use your cognitive skills to tap into an alien world”.
Nerds will delight in exploring “Mission to Nocterra”. Imagine walking on an alien planet that is completely dark where the atmosphere filters out all light. This world is warm and it has air, yet it is devoid of light. Griner expressed Maker Faire Denver’s theme of inclusion this year. “While it should always be a consideration, we wanted to commission something special for many of the people in our community whose experience of the world around us is different and pull back the curtain on a part of their experience. “Mission to Nocterra’ besides being experiential, challenges you to solve clues and derive meaning through what out more dormant senses are telling you.”
“Mission to Nocterra” was created by Tact-Ed (with the help of designers: Dan Griner, Jenny Filipetti, Alexi High, Mara Maxwell, Brice Sullivan and Bailey Van Etten) in partnership with the Colorado Center for the Blind. It is also sponsored with funds from Meow Wolf. The interactive event will be available at Maker Faire Denver and will then tour the country. “Mission to Nocterra” is included with admission to this year’s Maker Faire Denver.
Maker Faires take place all around the world and display resourcefulness and invention from creators of all ages. These talented makers show off inventions and crafts with a full day of interactive exhibits and demonstrations.
Ticket prices range from $8 – $15. Children under age 4 are admitted free. Family 4-packs and VIP tickets are also available. Check out ticket information here.
