Fan Expo Denver took over the Colorado Convention Center May 28-31, and pop culture thrived for four straight days.

It was an event of reunions. The X-Files cast, Lord of the Rings, Goonies, and more brought together actors and fans alike that haven’t seen each other in a long time. Fan Expo Denver was special! The Boys actors hosted panels, photos, and autographs with long lines of excited fans. Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, Valorie Curry, and Cameron Crovetti brought the energy, and their fans could be heard down the hallways. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord had cast members Sam Witwer, Vanessa Marshall, David W. Collins, and Matthew Wood host a panel. David Tennant was always busy. Even just walking through the celebrity area was surreal. There sat favorite actors such as David Tennant, Orlando Bloom, Karl Urban, Bryce Dallas Howard, Josh Holloway, and of course, Peggy The Dog (Dogpool). Bryce Dallas Howard was an absolute delight! Many of the celebrities truly looked like they had a very good time.

Where would we be without the comic creators and artists like Jeph Loeb, Arthur Adams, Clayton Crain, Klaus Janson, Denys Cowan, Sean Gordon Murphy, Skottie Young, Jake Tacito, and the list went on and on. These super-talents were sketching art on the spot and meeting fans.

Anime, Animation, and gaming voice actors had visitors at their booths. Actors like Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Michael Bell, Christian Borle, Lilli Cooper, Veronica Taylor, Aleks Le, Zach Aguilar, Steven Ogg, Shawn Fonteno, and Young Maylay were greeted by excited visitors of all ages. It’s no wonder that Anime and Gaming are often the most popular cosplays at conventions.

The X-Files reunion was deliciously different. Their moderator wasn’t available which actually made the panel hilariously unhinged. Gillian Anderson started out the conversation, fans lined up as they knew exactly what to do, and the conversation entertained a packed room. Everyone was there! David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Robert Patrick, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Nicholas Lea, and Annabeth Gish. Saturday continued The X-Files reunion day with autographs, photo ops, and happy fans. “X-Philes” enjoyed what was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Sunday was definitely The Lord of the Rings day with all four Hobbits in attendance. Those lucky enough to grab those Second Breakfast tickets before they quickly sold out had the experience of a lifetime, having the Hobbits actually serve them breakfast! Miranda Otto and John Rhys-Davies also took the stage that day, and none other than Orlando Bloom hosted a chat, and fans raved about that experience. This was all in celebration of the 25th Anniversary. To close the celebration out in style, there was the Evening with the Hobbits. Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd teamed up for an evening panel with photo ops afterward. No doubt fans will never forget the experience.
The cosplay was creative and amazing as always. Kids and adults constantly stopped cosplayers to get their photo taken with them. One of the best places to see all of the hard work fans had put into their outfits was the Cosplay Red Carpet. People lined up early for the chance to cheer on their favorites.
Merchant Mesa was buzzing with happy shoppers hoping to score those unique items. There were t-shirts, light sabers, comics, Pokemon, Legos, dice, and the most amazing hand-made treasures like wands, swords, jewelry, and more. And then there was the artwork. Artists, comic creators, and authors were honestly one of the best parts of the convention. These creatives traveled from all over the states to show off their art, and people loved taking home one-of-a-kind items. The celebrities were on the same floor, so it was a pop culture hub. It was a central spot to see what cosplay attendees showed off, and even what unique shirts people were wearing. It was a treat to watch children’s eyes light up as they came across people dressed as their favorite superheroes.

As the weekend came to a close, attendees strolled out with smiles on their faces and treasures in their hands. Fan Expo Denver did a great job! The volunteers and staff were knowledgeable and helpful. There were maps and information guides everywhere, and the Fan Expo app made planning out the days super easy. Denver has a chance to do this all again next year, July 2-5, 2027. And for those across the country, Fan Expo puts on shows in Anaheim, Chicago, Canada, Dallas, Orlando, Philadelphia, and more. For information on all of their events, check out all of their experiences and mark those calendars. For those who want the big-time comic con-type experiences, Fan Expo has it all.
Nerd Alert News had an absolute blast, and we’ll see everyone next year!
