Those who weren’t at The Gothic Theatre last Saturday night, June 13th, missed out on something truly special. A joy-filled celebration packed with dancing, laughter, and a whole lot of energy took over the Denver scene. It was The Earlybirds Club that transformed the evening into a Decades Party, and from the moment it began, it felt like stepping into a living mixtape.

Earlybirds Club just getting started

The night unfolded like a perfectly curated timeline of music. From 6 to 7 PM, the 80s took over, followed by the 90s from 7 to 8, and then the 2000s from 8 to 9. By 9:00, it was “all in,” with DJ Cyn seamlessly blending the best from all three eras into one electrifying set. The soundtrack was iconic. It included Madonna, Whitney, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and more. It was hit after hit that kept the dance floor alive and buzzing. It truly felt like there was something for everyone, no matter what era someone was from.

And the fashion? Well, it was just as fun as the music. Neon was everywhere, of course, but so were expressions of personality. Some attendees leaned all the way into 80s vibes, showing up in everything from casual throwback looks to dressy retro glam with sequins to sparkle in the light. Others brought color and creativity with rainbows, tutus, and pride wear. Whether people came in comfy shoes ready to dance all night or opted for style over practicality, it didn’t matter—everyone showed up ready to have fun.
What truly defined the evening, though, was the atmosphere. This was a space built on joy, support, and freedom. It was a night where women showed up for each other, free from judgment and outside expectations. No one was there to impress or be interrupted—just to dance, connect, and let go. That spirit was captured perfectly when Denver’s Earlybirds Ambassador, Kylie Larson, took the stage and reminded everyone that, for this night, they weren’t caretakers or bosses. They were simply themselves, and it was time to dance.

As the night went on, the energy only grew. There was a moment when the dance floor shifted from fun to something deeper—pure release. When Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” came on, the crowd erupted, singing and dancing with a kind of cathartic enthusiasm that filled the room. It was one of those moments you could feel as much as hear.

The 90s hour brought an extra layer of magic with the introduction of bubble machines, which floated their way through the packed crowd. The effect was playful, nostalgic, and just a little bit surreal—like stepping into a daydream where everyone was completely present and having the time of their lives.

DJ Cyn getting the party started

Through it all, DJ Cyn was the heartbeat of the evening. Her ability to read the room and keep the momentum going across hours of music was nothing short of impressive. She didn’t just play songs—she crafted an experience, connecting with the audience and keeping the energy high from start to finish. By the time the final mixes were underway, every inch of The Gothic Theatre had become part of the dance floor. People weren’t just dancing in front of the stage; they were dancing in rows, aisles, and any open space they could find. The place was packed, and no one wanted it any other way.

Adding even more meaning to the night, the event gave back in a powerful way. Ten percent of ticket proceeds supported the Susie Lee Legacy Fund, which uplifts nonprofits serving women, gender-expansive individuals, and communities in need. It felt good to make an impact. And perhaps one of the most beloved aspects of the Earlybirds Club experience is its perfect end time. The party wraps up at 10 PM, making it ideal for women who want to go all out on the dance floor and still wake up ready to tackle the next day. It’s a night out that fits real life without sacrificing any of the fun.

The Gothic Theatre before the crowd

By the end of the evening, one thing was clear: this wasn’t just a dance party. It was a celebration of connection, nostalgia, and unapologetic joy. The music was incredible, the energy was contagious, and the memories made will last far beyond that final song.
