Actor, writer, producer, and director Osric Chau is a fan favorite among the “Supernatural” family. His portrayal of the prophet, Kevin Tran captivated audiences, and his presence at “Supernatural” conventions is always a true delight. He has also shown his acting talents as Ryan Choi in “Arrow”, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”, and “The Flash”. Of course, we can’t forget his brilliance in his multiple roles in “The Hillywood Show” parodies!
Recently, Nerd Alert News got the chance to chat with Osric and catch up with him about GISH, conventions, and quarantine. He also had a special message for his fans.
TiShea Wilson: As many in the Supernatural family know, this wouldn’t have been your first time being involved with GISH. What is your favorite part of the experience?
Osric Chau: My favorite thing about GISH is how it pulls the SPN fandom and beyond together to make the world a better place while pushing everyone out of their comfort zones to try something they’d never ever consider doing, but will probably be happy to have done once it’s all over. I’ve wanted to go hang gliding for years, but sure enough, it took GISH to push me off that cliff to do it. And I ended up doing it in an elephant octopus costume at that.
TW: Everyone has been doing their best to stay busy and productive during quarantine. Can you tell us a little bit about what you have been doing and how it’s changing now that the country is starting to reopen?
OC: I’ve been spending the vast majority of my time writing scripts, a couple of projects that I’ve been wanting to finish. Every night, I watch a movie with my roommate and so many video conferences. The country is starting to reopen but my front door will likely not be for a while. I’m gonna take the extra precautions to stay in as much as I can for a little while longer.
TW: You have always been such a fun and energetic guest at the conventions you’ve attended. What are you missing most about them now and what are you most looking forward to getting back to?
OC: I miss the travelling. Flying around the world and seeing cities and countryside that I’ve not experienced before. That was always such a joy. First thing I’m gonna do when everything opens up again is rock climbing. That I very much miss, something I enjoy that’s also exercise.
TW: Once quarantine ends and life starts to go back to some version of normalcy, are there any projects you are looking forward to starting or resuming?
OC: I’m itching to get back on set. I’ll be trying to get one of my projects off the ground this year if possible. So, I’ll be excited to get to the camera again when it is safe to do so.
TW: Is there a message you would like to extend to your fans during these uncertain times?
OC: These have been some of the craziest moments in my lifetime. But it’s in these dark times where we’re able to see all those bright lights around us that we might have taken for granted when we had that daylight. I’ve seen some incredible kindness and generosity in these times, people changing lives by lending a hand, or an ear. It’s all been quite heartwarming and helping me get me through those harder days. Thank you for all you do, please keep going and I’ll see you on the other side.
