HBO Max is will introduce fans to a new generation of “little liars” with its new series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.” The show will go into production later this summer at Upriver Studios in New York. It will star Chandler Kinney (“Zombies 2,” “Lethal Weapon”) and Maia Reficco (“Strangers,” “Evita,” “Kally’s Mashup”). Chandler plays the role of Tabby, an aspiring director and horror movie buff who is, of course, hiding a secret. Kinney will play Noa who is a striving, sardonic track star who is trying to get her life back to normal after a summer at a juvenile detention facility.
Quite a few “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” alum are involved in this new project. Lisa Soper will direct the first two episodes, executive producer/writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and co-executive producer/writer Lindsay Calhoon Bring are also involved. Let’s hope that they bring some of the creativity and darkness that made “Sabrina” so enjoyable. The series will be a coming-of-age drama that will appeal to fans of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Riverdale.”
According to producers of the new series, it takes place Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.
