Let’s chat about what’s up and coming. Have you heard about the new FX series “The Last Man?” It premieres on Hulu on September 13th. Side note, “Space:1999” fans would think that particular date is an appropriate day to launch an apocalyptic series. “The Last Man” is a highly anticipated drama series based on DC Comics’ Eisner Award-winning series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.
It is wild to imagine a world without men. Not to be sexist but who would be there for me to open that jar of pickles? Yes, that quote was in honor of the character Alara on “The Orville.” Then, of course, there’s the obvious of who would be our partners in repopulating the world?
This will be a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome. Yet, one cisgender man and his pet monkey somehow survive. The show will be about the survivors left on Earth and their struggles to rebuild. The cast shines with Diane Lane, Ashley Romans, Ben Schnetzer, Olivia Thirlby, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Diana Bang, Elliot Fletcher, Juliana Canfield, and “Galaxy Quest” fans will love that Missi Pyle is in it. At the helm will be Eliza Clark as showrunner and executive producer.
The series shows promise and sci-fi fans are looking forward to it. Check out the trailer and make September 13th on that calendar.
