Colleen Bement: I watched the trailer for “SurrealEstate” and it looks to be a sure hit. It is certainly up the alley of my readers. Two questions:

1.) Give me a rundown of a day-in-the-life on the set of “SurrealEstate.”

Adam Korson: It was a tricky time because of COVID, of course. We thankfully Blue Ice Pictures, our production company, they did what needed to be done with regards to COVID policies and whatnot. They went above and beyond. Coming to set felt super safe. But it was a blast. We had such a fun time o set. I knew Sarah (Levy) before going into the show so that was always a comfort. Then of course Tim (Rozon) knew Sarah. There were a lot of connections among the cast that made it a lot of fun. We were always collaborating, and working together to figure out moments. It was a blast. We really had such a fun time putting it together, both cast and crew.

2.) Tell us about your character Father Phil Orley. You play a priest?

AK: Yes, a fallen priest, actually. He grew up in the Catholic church and became a priest. He became a priest because he wanted to fight evil. He wanted to do the job that most people didn’t want to do. He believed in exorcisms and went around the world wanting to cast out the demons. He found himself in sort of middle America in a parish dealing with people sinning mundane things like stealing a rotisserie chicken at a grocery store. So, he ended up leaving the church for that reason. More importantly, because he’s a gay man and the church didn’t accept him for who he is, and the hypocrisy he saw in the church, he couldn’t stand behind them anymore. So, he found himself the Roman Agency of all places, working with a real estate group that specializes in the paranormal and the homes that other people stayed away from.

He joined forces with Roman and he’s able to do what he always wanted to do-cast out evil by selling homes. His role at the agency is Researcher Extraordinaire. He loves being in libraries and halls of records and finding information that people can’t, and using his brains to solve the cases the majority of the time. As the season goes on he’s definitely not shy in using his brawn as well. His muscles come into play.

3.) Do you believe in ghosts? I think I have one upstairs in my office.

AK: You probably do, and I do believe in ghosts. I believe in the things that cannot be explained, but I don’t think you need to be afraid of that ghost.

CB: Would you happen to have any other projects in the works that you can share?

AK: Yeah, actually there’s a film that is coming out tomorrow (Aug. 12, 2021) in theaters across the US called “The Stairs” which funny enough is another horror/paranormal story. We actually shot at the end of 2019 right before the pandemic, and it’s getting this theatrical release which is amazing. It’s an independent film, so whenever you’re doing an independent film you never know where it’s going to go. We had a great team. We had a great not only production team and post-production team, and it’s a really cool project.

CB: You had a guest spot on “Lucifer” and my readers would love it if you happened to have a story from the set.

AK: We had a blast. I don’t know if you’ve heard this from other people, they are such a cool group of people. Production-wise, cast-wise. They were so welcoming and just like to play. On my Twitter feed, and Instagram maybe, I posted some behind-the-scenes footage of the stunt I did in the show. I didn’t know that I was going to be doing this kind of stunt. You read the script and you sort of have an idea of what’s happening, but when I got to set I knew I was going to be doing this stunt with Lauren (German) that’s flipping me over onto the ground. It’s really cool and she’s amazing. So sweet and such an incredible person. A friend of mine, Inbar Lavi, who played Eve, we did “Imposters” together and is also amazing. She would just talk about the cast and crew. Going into it I sort of knew that it was going to be a fun set, but they really are a great group of people.

CB: Tell me about your photography. I checked out your Instagram account and you are so talented! Is it a side hustle for you? Is it a passion for you?

AK: Complete passion. I love photos. I have been dabbling in photography for so long. Since I was a kid. I think it was something that attracted me to film as well. You have the ability to create a frame, and that frame can tell a story–whatever story you want to tell. Capture a moment in time as you see it is where the passion for me comes from. And being able to play with colors in post, again, creating something that speaks to you at a given time, and capturing a moment is such a thrilling thing. It’s there. You can’t take that moment back. It exists forever, which I think is just the coolest.

CB: What is Salus Meditation? Meditating is something I seriously struggle with.

AK: It’s difficult for most people. It’s something that we’re not really given the tools for. No one really talks about it. It’s amazing how you get sick, you go to the doctor, they treat the symptom, you take some medicine, and you’re better. But no one ever really talks about mental health. No one talks about how to train and work out your mind and your soul, which is equally if not more important because when you are able to meditate, you’re able to create a healthy mind and soul. You’re actually preventing any sort of physical illness. You’ve giving your body the right tools ahead of time to keep your body in one piece.

Salus is actually a company that my wife started. She started it right before the pandemic and it’s been thriving through the pandemic because people need that in their life right now. Being in that isolation and being in their homes that a lot is being revealed. My wife has this company and member space that people can join. It’s a company that both she and I founded, but she’s definitely the leader and the one who leads the meditations.

I was right there in the same boat. I never really meditated. When I started working with my wife, we did a certain type of mediation called Yoga Nidra. Literally, all you need to do is lay there on your back in a comfortable position, in comfy clothes, in a dark room, and all you have to do is listen to the sound of her voice. That’s it. Literally lying there letting her guide you. Yoga Nidra is a way to go into a Yogic sleep. Your body is actually completely resting. Your mind is active, but your body’s asleep and it restores itself. This intention that you set, while you’re in this Yogic sleep, it manifests itself–through your body and through your soul, so that you’re awake. It’s there. It’s already been implemented in your subconscious. She’s helped a lot of people.
