Just off their success at AnimeJapan 2022, Netflix has become a leader in Anime content. The network showcased 40 new exclusive anime highlights and boasted a diversified slate across genres that made both current fans and new viewers happy. Along with exciting new content like “Bubble,” season 2 of “Tiger & Bunny,” “Thermae Romae Novae”, they announced the return of  “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure STONE OCEAN,” which will continue for episodes 13-24 later this year. Anime fans might also enjoy “Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood” which is an animated film that shoots viewers back to the space program of 1969. Let’s break down some of this fun content!

 

“Ultraman” Season 2

The second season of the reenvisioned “Ultraman” comes out April 14th and a curtain rises on a new chapter. It focuses on six warriors (ULTRAMAN, SEVEN, ACE, ZOFFY, JACK, TARO) who all come together to heat up the story. Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki direct this series that is based on the works of Tsuburaya Productions, Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. It came out in 2019 and has enjoyed a lot of success.

Released on Netflix in 2019, the anime ULTRAMAN (Based on the works of Tsuburaya Productions, Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi) became a global hit and received many awards both in Japan and overseas.

Do you remember the “Ultraman” from the 60s?

Synopsis:

Kotaro Higashi, a young photographer, encounters a mysterious missing persons case. He takes a photo proving that it was the work of aliens and brings it to the SSSP with his girlfriend Izumi. However, a certain incident transforms him into a superhuman with incredible fiery superpowers.

Then, a massive cosmic weapon appears before the human-sized Ultraman…

 

“Tiger & Bunny” Season 2

Season 2 of “Tiger & Bunny” will be on Netflix this April 8th. The characters of Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr. continue hero work with their company, Apollon Media, while trying to maintain peace. More heroes enter Sternbild City and will Kotetsu and Barnaby be able to live up to the expectations?

Synopsis:

In Sternbild City, people of all races and ethnicities live alongside humans with superhuman abilities called NEXT, who use their NEXT abilities to maintain peace. Heroes wear sponsor logos, help solve crimes and save people in order to improve the image of their companies and acquire hero points. Their activities are broadcast on the popular show “Hero TV,” where the heroes try to climb the annual rankings and aim to be the “King of Heroes.”

 

“Bubble”

This highly anticipated anime film will be released on Netflix on April 28th.

Synopsis:

The story is set in Tokyo, after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity rained down upon the world. Cut off from the outside world, Tokyo has become a playground for a group of young people who have lost their families, acting as a battlefield for parkour team battles as they leap from building to building. Hibiki, a young ace known for his dangerous play style, makes a reckless move one day and plummets into the gravity-bending sea. His life is saved by Uta, a girl with mysterious powers who appears suddenly. The pair then hear a unique sound audible only to them. Why did Uta appear before Hibiki? Their encounter leads to a revelation that will change the world.

 

“The Bubble”

Along with the fresh anime, Netflix is also offering new content such as “The Bubble.” Not to be confused with the anime “Bubble,” this comedy stars favorites such as Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Keegan-Michael Key, David Duchovny, and so many more. It hits a comedy nerve to everyone who quarantined with their bubbles of friends and families during the pandemic. This film launched March 25th and is streaming on Netflix.

Synopsis:

Comedy about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a sequel to an action franchise film about flying dinosaurs.
