The second season of “Castle Rock” on Hulu has begun and if you haven’t started binging, then we’re here to remind you to. “Castle Rock” is an anthology series that uses Stephen King’s stories as the bases of the show. This season will be a Misery-themed show, lots of darkness and drama. After last season received rave reviews, much anticipation and excitement was awaiting this next season. Yusra Warasma and Barkhad Abdi were the first to sit down with us and when asked what we could expect Warasma said This is definitely a drama where who’s bad may not be bad and who’s good may not necessarily be good. So there are bigger questions and it being Stephen King there’ll be a lot of supernatural forces at work. When asked if there were fans of Stephen King before the project Warasma stated she wasn’t an avid reader, but is a fan of the films and folklore in England. Abdi agreed with Warasma’s take on being a fan of Stephen King, he is a big fan of “Shawshank Redemption” and said we have a lot of good stuff,’ referring to this new season. we then found out who their characters are to each other. They are Somali siblings who live in “Castle Rock,” they were adopted which is kind of a twist.

Lizzie Caplan and Elsie Fisher shed some light on their characters’ dynamics. Caplan will be playing the pivotal role of Annie Wilkes, the character that Stephen King’s novel, Misery is about. Fisher is playing Caplan’s daughter on the series. Caplan started off by saying that the comic con audience was one of the kindest and to sit down and watch the show for the first time was crazy.

Caplan spoke about stepping into Kathy Bates’ shadow, though daunting she noted the differences saying, that Annie is very much on her own, but this Annie has a daughter and has to interact with the public. Just by virtue of that it will feel different, Annie is misery never went through anything that would terrorize her until the very end, but there is plenty of stuff in “Castle Rock” that really scares this Annie. Caplan went on to say that she thinks this will feel different enough than Bates’ version.

Fisher spoke on how “Castle Rock” is bringing Stephen King’s stories to new generations, the film-obsessed generation is really going to enjoy it. Annie Wilkes is a mother in “Castle Rock” brings the question if Annie is a good mother. Fisher states, she only has good intentions for Joy. They’ve discussed Annie conditions, there is a lot of understanding between them. Caplan touches on how Joy is going through what every teenager is going through, trying to break away. Though there are prominent difficulties apparently considering all that her mother struggles with. Caplan shares that Annie is suspicious of everybody, she wants to keep her head down and watch out for her daughter.

The show touches upon mental illness, Caplan says that she thinks Annie was born with some of the things that haunt her today. Both Caplan and Fisher are anxious for the fan reception but are also excited for the story to be told.
