This year’s Colorado Anime Fest is in the books. The event returned in grand style after a “pandemic hiatus” this past weekend of April 15-17, 2022. The Denver Marriott Tech Center hosted the fun and event rooms were delightfully full. Attendance was up and organizers and cosplayers alike celebrated its return.

There was something special about anime conventions. Almost every attendee dressed in cosplay. One talented cosplay expert designed her dress by using geometry and cones! Listen to her story here. It was a maker’s playground as people shared secrets on how they got their wigs just right. What type of stitch did they use? Everyone has their story. and throughout the hallways, words were being tossed around like alchemist, and trolls, and bards. Fans compared sewing machines and stitching techniques.

The return of this fan-favorite convention had Coloradoans excited. Their sewing needles and glue sticks were used on a grand scale as anime cosplays tend to be the most creative in fandom. These anime enthusiasts were back to the con scene and visited with friends they hadn’t seen in a long time. They immersed themselves in everything anime, Japanese culture, and good friends. Of course, there was a glorious costume contest, and around midnight the cosplay cabaret took fans well into the night. There was a board game room where the gamers tested their skills and made new friends.
