In less than two weeks comic book fans and geeks of all ages will be headed to the Colorado Springs Comic Con Aug 26-28, 2016. The Mortgage Solutions Financial Expo Center will be hosting this brand new event that features some awesome celebrity guests, photo ops, and programming bound to entertain. That all important schedule of programming has been announced and there will be plenty of panels, workshops, and contests. It’s time to clear that weekend schedule for cosplay, Q&A’s, and meeting those celebrities.
Somewhere in between the photo ops, autographs, and stunning cosplay are the activities. Friday starts out with a Q&A with actress Amy Jo Johnson. Following that will be a panel with Colorado Springs resident and author K.B. Wagers called The ABC’s of Science Fiction. Closing Friday out nicely is a Star Wars Trivia Contest.
Good morning Saturday with a Q&A with DC Universe’s Neal Adams. Following that will be so many more fun panels such as View Askewniverse Retrospective with Jason Mewes, The Art of VFX – From ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Harry Potter,’ and then It’s Morphin Time with the Power Rangers with Jason David Frank, Jason Faunt, Jason Narvey, and Paulie Schrier. That afternoon also has in store those awesome ‘Comic Book Men’ Ming Chen and Mike Zapcic. Then the afternoon rounds out with Moviecamp: How to Make Movies Better. Then, the sun goes down and the lights come up with the After Party at 9 PM for just a $10 entry. Flashback to the ’90s will be hosted by Jason David Frank with music by DJ TRE.

Happy Sunday with with Ride or Die with ‘Sons of Anarchy.’ This panel will be packed! Stars Tommy Flanagan, Michael Beech, Emilio Rivera, and Mitch Pileggi will be chatting about their experiences on the show. Making Lightweight Costumes with Fiberglass and Other Composites sounds helpful. Then the afternoon gets super fun with ‘Buck Rogers’ Live on Stage with series stars Gil Gerard and Felix Silla. Rounding the day off well will be the Kids and Adults Cosplay Contests.

Speaking of stars, there has been a shiny new guest recently added to the lineup. Steven T. Seagle will be joining the Colorado Springs Comic Con. The television writer and producer, he is well known as the co-creator of ‘Ben 10’ and ‘Generator Rex’ for Cartoon Network, and ‘Big Hero 6’ comics, the characters that were featured in Disney’s Oscar-winning animated film of the same name. Seagle is also a comic book and graphic novel writer, and he just happens to be a Colorado Springs Coronado High School alum.
Tickets are currently on sale through the event’s website. Ticket prices start at $25 for adults and $10 for kids between the ages of six and twelve. VIP passes are also available.
