As one of the series’ stars, Dan Cade plays a new vampire hunter named Roberto in this fifth and final season of SyFy’s very popular series “Van Helsing.” Calling this season epic he mentioned filming in castles in Slovakia. Imagine filming in an actual castle! According to co-star Kim Coates, the cast and crew got the chance to film in “Bratislava, Slovakia with cobblestone streets everywhere, forests everywhere, we had three or four castles.”

Get to know this talent who happens to be an extreme martial arts expert and acrobat and is recognized in many films such as Luc Besson’s “The Family” and the recent version of “Papillon.” TV fans know him from “Fox 21,” “Emerald City,” “Carnival Row,” and more. Early in his career, he played Handsome Jim in Ridley and Tony Scott’s “World Without End.” He caught the acting bug after wanting to combine acting with martial arts. It did not take him long to realize that he wanted to do it for a living.

Colleen Bement: Thank you very much for chatting with me again. I just want to catch up with you now that “Van Helsing” is back. The first episode called ‘Past Tense’ has an IMDB rating of 8.8! Congratulations, it looks like fans are loving it so far. What have you heard?

Dan Cade: I saw the episode – really happy with the way it’s looking. I think it’s going to be a big hit among the fans. I’ve heard the fans are excited for what is to come!

CB: This fifth and final season is quite different from the others. Tell us what you can about what makes this season so special.

DC: Well, this season goes back to the Vampire Origins. We shot the first 3 episodes in Slovakia so it is very authentic. We used a huge castle to bring the story to life, so it’s pretty amazing how it’s turning out to be. This is the final season so it’s going to be special and exciting for the fans to give closure to the show.

CB: Are you allowed to tell us anything about your new project “Faction II: Blooden Gold“?

DC: This project is a horror movie. It’s in the pre-production phase so I’m not sure what is happening with it. The producer is working on the logistics behind the scenes. So I will have to see if this one gets made.

CB: Do you have other projects in the works that you can share with us? I have “Terra Vision” out on Netflix soon. It’s a courtroom drama about the Google Earth case. I play a character called Matt Boyd, testifying on the stand representing Google. I’m also about to start an Icelandic crime drama which should be very interesting.

CB: Is life getting back to normal for you now that we are hopefully on the other side of the pandemic?

DC: Not quite, the travel restrictions and testing are a bit of a problem but hope that eases off soon. Looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel so I hope this is over quickly and we can get back to normal.

CB: During this pandemic, I’ve discovered so much new music.

DC: What have you been listening to lately? I like listening to Latin American music it has a good vibe and is upbeat, plus I feel like I’m in the sun when those tunes are played!!
