Station Eleven is a post-apocalyptic drama spanning several timelines after a devastating flu destroys the world, leaving few survivors. The story follows their attempts to re-build society and reimagine the world. The original 10-episode limited series is based on the 2014  international bestseller by Emily St. John Mandel and is written and executive produced by Patrick Somerville.

The book starts out introducing a theatre troupe while in the middle of a production of King Lear when news of the mysterious Georgia flu hits. The story jumps in time to follow a nomadic group of actors and musicians as they work to rebuild. It is not known how closely the HBO Max limited series will follow the book’s narrative.
