The 1940s Ball is a non-profit that organizes two annual events: The 1940’s WWII Era Ball in the summer and the 1940’s White Christmas Ball in December. The annual winter event, the Christmas Ball was held at the Hyatt Hotel downtown Denver on December 7th, 2019 but don’t let the modern location fool you. The sets were breathtaking and transported the venue straight into a different time.
With a buzzing atmosphere and various 1940s displays, including vintage cars in the ballroom, the hearts of history nerds were beating a little faster. Lovers of old movies also got their fill with many sets from the Holiday classic White Christmas welcoming guests to pose for pictures, including those with professional photographers and prints on location for some priceless memories.
Attendees came dressed to the nines! Many wore authentic 1940s or 1950s garb for the chance to receive a golden ticket and participate in the Authentic Attire “Best Dressed” Contest. Others used the chance for a professional or casual cosplay of their favorite 1940s pop culture icons, it was easy to spot Rosie the Riveter, a Captain America USO girl, Agent carter, or Jessica Rabbit on the dance floor.
The organizers put on an amazing show, with wonderful music acts, including the Satin Dollz, a great vintage shopping alley, an ornament making station, a scavenger hunt, many touching moments honoring veterans, and the already mentioned sets and displays for copious selfie opportunities and heart-warming Christmas feels.
If you’ve missed this beautiful event, keep an eye out for early bird tickets for the 2020 1940s WWII Era Ball on June 20th and get your dancing stompers ready!
