Heading up to the season finale of Jodie Whittaker’s “Doctor Who” grab a Kleenex for this one. This week’s episode ‘It Takes You Away’ visits a cozy cottage in present-day Norway. The Doctor, Ryan, Graham, and Yaz come across a very frightened young girl huddled in a closet. What does Graham do: He offers her a sandwich! Apparently, he always comes prepared with sandwiches every time they leave the TARDIS. Yet what is this girl so afraid of? To make things worse, she happens to be blind and her dad goes missing around the same time every day. Will the team be able to save the day?
This week brings viewers close to Graham again with some powerful emotions of joy, sadness, and temptation. He meets problems of his own when he comes across a person from his past. There are moments of suspense and fear with a freaky-scary mirror that even has The Doctor genuinely terrified. What has her so sacred? Is it the cave with the super-scary birds? Any Hitchcock fans know that’s never a good sign. Is it the fact that the mirror might be a portal to another reality; one that even has a talking frog.
Guest star Ellie Wallwork plays the young girl, Hanne. Blind from birth this talented young actress and singer/songwriter does a great job pulling us into the story. This episode was penned by Ed Hime and directed by Jamie Childs.
Next week get ready for the season finale. The tenth episode is called ‘The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos’ and it will air Sunday, December 9th at 8/7c and feature actor Mark Addy. Check out the official synopsis below.
