The weather was certainly cooperating as Family Business Beer Company reopened to the public after 6 months. The brewery, owned by Jensen and Danneel Ackles and Gino Graul, was among a long list of companies that shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic in March of 2020.

According to Jensen Ackles on the ‘Inside of You’ podcast, they were able to keep their employees by retraining them to begin canning a few of their special brews for distribution to approximately 20 HEB locations in the area. In addition, the brewery has been providing beer to-go so that their patrons can order online and have it delivered to their vehicles. While both of these will continue, on September 25, 2020, FBBC was able to reopen to the public with some modifications for the safety of employees and customers. Please read through the entire list of changes on the website before visiting.

One important note is that the hours of operation have changed. According to the website, the brewery is open on Friday from 3pm – 9pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from Noon – 9pm. In addition, reservations are now required and, with the exception of the restrooms, the taproom has been closed to the public. Tables are set up outside in the grove and are spaced according to the regulations that have been mandated for businesses to ensure social distancing. While seated with your party at the table, masks can be removed but must remain on whenever you are moving around the brewery.

Note: although there is no charge to reserve a table, a no-show-fee will be assessed so you will be asked to provide a credit card in order to complete your reservation.

Upon arrival at the brewery, you are greeted and escorted to your table where you will be given a QR code to place orders for drinks, food, and merch. At this time, cash is no longer accepted and a credit card is required to make these purchases. You will receive a text message when your food order is ready to be picked up and drinks are available for pick up at the beer window immediately.

Prior to the pandemic, plans were in place to begin offering food made by the brewery employees themselves and that plan has now become a reality. Pizza and Salad options are provided by the brewery’s own food truck—with actual pizza ovens installed inside.

There are several options to choose from, including a pizza named for a previous employee that some of the original customers will remember: “The Rodney.”  Customers also have the option to personalize their pizza when placing their order online. Already, the food is receiving rave reviews by customers and employees who spent the last week taste testing for the reopening.

If you are planning on being in the Dripping Springs area, be sure to make a reservation to stop by the brewery to enjoy some good food, beer, and the Texas countryside.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the brewery’s phenomenal employees and treated like a part of the family—and behind those masks is guaranteed to be a smile.
