Geraldine Viswanathan is definitely busy! Her role in Paramount+’s new film “Rumble” is catching everyone’s attention. The movie started streaming this month and kids and adults alike are enjoying it. The characters are lovable and funny, and the all-star cast is a big bonus. Wrestling fans will no doubt appreciate the storyline, but this movie really is for everyone. “Rumble” is delightful and is a must-see.

One of the reasons for the film’s success is Geraldine. After her role in the film “Blockers,” Refinery29 referred to her as “the film’s breakout star” and her career has skyrocketed. Fans have seen the Australian actress in “Bad Education,” “BoJack Horseman,” and of course, she’s in the TBS series “Miracle Workers” opposite Daniel Radcliffe. Get up close and get to know the talented Australian actress.

“Rumble” synopsis:

Set in a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes, “Rumble” follows the story of teenager Winnie as she seeks to follow in her legendary father’s footsteps by coaching a lovable underdog monster into a champion. Voices included Will Arnett, Geraldine Viswanathan, Terry Crews, Stephen A. Smith, Jimmy Tatro, Tony Danza, Susan Kelechi Watson, Tony Shalhoub, Bridget Everett, Greta Lee, Ben Schwartz, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai, Becky Lynch, Michael Buffer, and Charles Barkley.

Colleen Bement: Paramount+’s “Rumble” looks like it’s going to be a sure-fire hit! Two questions: What was the audition like? What was the filming experience like? Was it remote or on set or both?

Geraldine Viswanathan: It was so fun! I met with Hamish the director and we really got along. Then we did a record session in the studio and played around with some different versions of Winnie- then he offered me the part! Then we recorded multiple sessions over the course of a few years. When covid hit we did some recording remotely but more recently have been able to go into the studio to polish it all up.

CB: By chance are you a fan of wrestling?

GV: I wouldn’t say I’m a die hard fan of wrestling because I don’t want you to quiz me on my favorite wrestlers or matches; however, over the pandemic, I did watch a lot of wrestling on YouTube! After working with John Cena and being a part of “Rumble” I thought that I had to check it out. I found it really entertaining and interesting.

CB: Your “Miracle Worker’s” bloopers from your Twitter are absolutely hilarious! I’m sure it was a lot of hard work, but just how much fun did you have on the set? What was it like working with Daniel Radcliffe?

GV: “Miracle Workers” is such a dream job- I love the cast and creatives so much! Daniel Radcliffe is an absolute legend, just the best person. Everyone in the cast is! We have so much fun and it’s such a treat to get to play in a new world that the writers create each season.

CB: Do you have any other projects in the works that you’re allowed to tell us about?

GV: We’re doing another season of “Miracle Workers!” Other than that, nothing else has been announced yet but I’m excited for the upcoming year!

CB: Is music a part of your life? Do you sing? Play an instrument?

GV: I love music! I really enjoy singing. I used to play piano as a kid but don’t remember a lot of it. I’m trying to get back into the practice of it!

CB: What were you like as a kid? Were you always performing in front of people? Trying to make them laugh?

GV: This sounds like a cliche but I was always telling stories as a kid, I would ramble about everything all the time. I was definitely a clown, always dancing and singing to “Cats the Musical.”

CB: Your Instagram is super entertaining. Do you have a lot of fun with your posts?

GV: Oh thank you! I definitely used to! I post a lot less these days but I try to keep as much of my pre-a bunch of followers posting energy as I can.

Be sure to catch “Rumble” on Paramount+
