“Batwoman” fans are getting to know actor Jesse Hutch in his role as Agent Russell Tavaroff this second season of The CW hit show, and Nerd Alert News grabbed some time to get to know him. This talented actor is into all aspects of filmmaking including stunt work, directing, writing, and producing. He recently directed, wrote, and acted in a proof of concept for a new TV series called “Fox and Hunter” that is being presented to potential partners. His rise to fame was his guest spot on “Dark Angel” and has enjoyed multiple guest roles on popular shows such as “Supernatural,” “Arrow,” “Project Blue Book,” and “Wu Assassins.” Romantics might remember him from “Cedar Cove” “Snowmance,” “Chateau Christmas” and “Inn Love by Christmas.”

Staying in shape is important to Jesse with his current training regiment of 2 hours per day, six days a week as he prepares for a potential lead role on a period piece. When he does find time to unwind, he spends it with his wife and children. He even squeezes in time for some woodworking!

Colleen Bement: Welcome to the superhero world with your new role as Agent Russell Tavaroff on season two of “Batwoman.” What can you tell us about your character?

Jesse Hutch: Thank you for welcoming me!! Tavaroff is very focused on his job. He is relentless towards achieving what he sets out to do. If one way doesn’t work he will find another. I would also say that he does not do well with people getting in his way of what he aims to accomplish.

CB: What was the audition like? Was it via Zoom?

JH: My audition was submitted by my agent. I taped the audition in my garage. That is where I do 99% of all my auditions. Sometimes I also get creative and just go outside and do it. 😜 I like having fun.

CB: You’ve had roles in many shows that our readers love like “Arrow,” “Project Blue Book,” “Almost Human,” and of course, “Supernatural!” Was there a role in particular that you had a really good time filming?

JH: Every role will have something good. Every project will allow for experience and growth. Arrow was a fantastic run at that point in my career. “Project Blue Book” was in my top 10 guest star roles. I always enjoy performing in a period piece. “Almost Human” was a sci-fi genre which was super cool. To be able to meet Karl Urban was pretty rad. I’d like to work with him again. “Supernatural” allowed for prosthetics and stunts as I played a werewolf who was part of an underground fight club. I’m very thankful for every single one of these roles.

CB: Do you have any projects on your horizon that you’re allowed to tell us about?

JH: Yes and No. 😜

CB: You’ve been involved in all aspects of filmmaking. Is there one that is the most challenging for you?

JH: I like to challenge. The film industry always allows for constant growth and improvement of your skillset and character. I have been acting for about 20 years now. I have learned a lot and I have much to learn. I have also been pursuing directing for quite a number of years. I would like to pursue that more. But I do not want to replace one for the other. I believe they go hand-in-hand. And I can continue to do both.

CB: I read a quote of yours that said “I want to touch people’s heart through drama, comedy, action, thrill, and everything in between.” I’d like to know, are you a romantic at heart?

JH: Maybe. Maybe not. Depending on one’s definition of romantic. It may be something I can always improve in.

CB: How do you spend your free time–when you actually have any?

JH: Haha. All time must be accounted for. Even free time must be scheduled. I like to be with my wife and children. I enjoy woodworking. And working out. If I can sneak a quick nap in the middle of the day…I will!

Check out Jesse in “Love, Bubbles, & Crystal Cove.”
