The first two episodes of “Hawkeye” have hit DisneyPlus. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have now officially been introduced to Kate Bishop in this new series. Kate is not a new character, but new to the MCU. The series is taking place over about a weeks time span during the Christmas holiday in New York City.

Clint Barton went to New York with his three kids t seemingly rekindle a relationship and strengthen his bond with his kids since he did lose many years with them, due to them being dusted by Thanos. His wife, played by Linda Cardellini is in the series, there was speculation she might not have revived her role in the series but she is just taking a back seat to the heroics.

Hawkeye is now canonically hard of hearing in the MCU as it’s revealed he has a hearing aid while watching an “Avengers” musical with his kids. The scene shows the events of the 2012 New York attack on Broadway very overly done musical theater antics and Clint is very much disgusted. His pain of Natasha Romanffs death is fresh as stated by his daughter who points out how hard it must be to watch the musical where Natasha is being portrayed on stage. We are given little nuances about Clint’s hearing issues as his youngest son is using sign language to communicate with him and Kate Bishop herself even asks him what happened.

The plot for the show is rolled out after we meet 22-year-old Kate Bishop and her knack for archery, and then she finds herself at the wrong place and right time. After she witnesses a crime at a shady auction, she accidentally dawns the ‘Ronin’ suit to beat up a batch of bad guys that were there to steal from the underground auction that suit was being sold at. She garners much attention in the suit, and none is positive as Ronin was a murderous vigilante that made many enemies. Kate runs into a dog on the way who proves to be as heroic as he is cute, who hopefully will have a big part in the show.

Of course, viewers will have to tune in to see how exactly Kate meets her superhero, ‘hero’, Clint Barton but heroic antics between the two ensue. You see Kate’s origin story of how she fell in love with archery after being saved by Clint as a young child. In the episodes set in the present time, viewers are introduced to the tracksuit gang and a villain who ultimately captures the unlikely pair, though Clint had only intended for himself to be caught.

The episodes have fun arrow tricks, amazing banter, and even some LARPing, though viewers will have to tune in to see for themselves.

The family dynamics of Kate, her mother, and the suspicious new fiance are seemingly going to be an issue as the show continues. Fans are still awaiting how Yalena’s (Florence Pugh) appearance and interest in Clint will affect what happens in the series. Yalena was introduced to Clint as the man who was responsible for her sister’s death. With only 6 episodes, and two down it is safe to say they will be packed with lots of interesting details.

Kate and Clint have an unusually well-working dynamic, but as he does refer to her as a kid and not an equal it will be interesting to see how their relationship grows and if Kate will take over the Hawkeye title.
