The rumors we’ve been hearing for so long are true! “Hocus Pocus 2” is happening, and we are anxiously awaiting more details. “Hocus Pocus,” which was released in July of 1993, followed three witches, known as the Sanderson sisters, who were resurrected after 300 years due to a curse. Our heroes are two teenagers, Max and Allison, as well as Max’s younger sister, who have to figure out how to keep the Sanderson sisters from terrorizing Salem. The original starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the three Sanderson sisters and they certainly put a spell on us.

The sequel was first announced in October of 2019, but Adam Shankman confirmed on his Instagram page on March 4th that he is set to direct. In the same post, he also announced that he is set to direct the Enchanted sequel (titled Disenchanted). Shankman, who directed “Hairspray,” “Step Up,” and “A Walk To Remember,” said in his post, “My only hope is to honor those who came before me and build something new and exciting, as I desperately try to not let down the fans and enchant the new initiates.” There is no word on which sequel will be filmed first and there is no release date set as of yet.

All original Sanderson sisters have expressed an interest in reprising their roles over the years but recently it was hinted that a new cast is in the works with hopes to have the original cast brought into the film in some other way. There has been no confirmation about the cast and nothing is known about the plot, but we do know this will come out on Disney Plus streaming service and we are holding onto our broomsticks because the witch is back!
