Creativity was alive and well in Denver this past weekend at the annual WhimsyCon. This Steampunk and Costuming event took place over two full floors at of Radisson Denver-Aurora February 28-March 1, 2020. The Shiny Garden sponsored event had unique and stunning cosplay, the panels were fun and informative, and the music was beautiful.

Some attendees shared stories and got caught up while others made new friendships. The three-day celebration had everything. There was even a mustache and beard competition judged by the Colorado Festival of Horror’s Dwight and Lisa Thompson.

The event had boasted a few special guests such as costuming/Maker, Kristin Dalleske, Author, Maxwell Alexander Drake, Artist, Peri Charlifu, and Musician Unwoman. Fans had the chance to meet and learn from these talents. Along with these, there were non-stop panels and entertainment where attendees learned more about the importance of “Black Panther’s Wakanda Forever, costuming on a budget, Victorian and Steampunk culture and costuming, and much more.

The vendor room was packed with treats and treasures, and did someone say art? The art show was beautiful!

The nights were meant for music and costumes. In the main events room, people were treated to some wonderful music from singer Losing Lara, and musician and singer Unwoman. Both ladies had soulful voices with amazing stories to tell through their music. Of course, there was the must-have of any convention, the costume contest.
