“Star Trek” has a shiny new leader with Holly Hunter in Paramount Plus’ all-new original series “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.”
Academy Award winner Holly Hunter takes command of every role she’s given, and “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” will be an opportunity for her to take charge again. Her recent guest-starring role in the critically acclaimed series, “Succession” proves what a badass character she can play, and she will step right into the captain’s chair, so to speak, perfectly. Her long list of stellar credits speaks for itself. Films include “The Piano,” for which she won her Oscar, “Raising Arizona,” O Brother, Where Art Thou?, David Cronenberg’s Crash, Steven Spielberg’s Always, Danny Boyle’s A Life Less Ordinary, Jodie Foster’s Home for the Holidays, Jon Amiel’s Copycat, Lasse Halstrom’s Once Around and Zach Snyder’s Batman v Superman,” “Thirteen,” and so many others.
As she prepares to embark on her latest adventure as captain and chancellor, fans can rest assured that the Starfleet Academy will be in capable hands. It is produced by CBS Studios and will begin production later this summer. “Starfleet Academy” will be joining the latest addition to the Trek universe along with ”Star Trek: Section 31” starring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. Buckle up, Trekkies. With “Discovery” completed, “Lower Decks” bringing us its fifth and final season, and more “Strange New Words” still on our horizon, there is plenty of Trek goodness headed our way.
