Hire mercenaries to retrieve an important person from a mysterious island. They’ve got guns, right? They know what they’re doing, right? Well, mix together scary monsters and a wormhole and this horror movie looks entertaining. Get ready to embrace the unknown as Epic Pictures, in collaboration with their Dread label, presents “Island Escape.” This flick looks like it blends horror, sci-fi, action, and even some romance. The cinematography looks good with a beautiful island background. The monsters look scary enough. Did they used to be human? It looks like whatever project they were working on went horribly wrong.

The trailer certainly looks promising. “Island Escape” stars Arielle Mastroianni (My Best Friend’s Dead), James Liddell (Two Ways to Go West), Grant Schumacher (The Retreat), and Chris Cimperman (Novel Love). It was created by Bruce Wemple who is known for his award-winning work in the sci-fi and horror genres. Some of Bruce’s other credits include off-beat horror and creature features such as “First Contact,” “The Retreat” and “Dawn of the Best.” Most recently, Bruce wrote and directed the time traveler thriller, “The Tomorrow Job.”

Check out the trailer.

Horror fans can catch this “Island Escape” on the big screen during its limited theatrical run beginning on August 4. The cinema experience will undoubtedly intensify the suspense and terror, making it an event not to be missed for horror enthusiasts. Then on August 8th, it will be available for Video On Demand.

The official island escape synopsis reads:

After a mysterious accident at a research camp on the Isle of Gran Manan, a CEO hires a team of blue-collar mercenaries to extract his daughter, a scientist working at a camp. Upon arrival, the team soon learns that not only is the island surrounded by a wormhole that causes time to reset every three days, but it’s also crawling with hideous monsters. As they learn more about the nature of time, space, and the creatures on the island, they quickly realize that death may be the easiest way to escape the island.

According to Epic Pictures Group VP of U.S. Distribution Yulissa Moraels she wanted to make a classic horror action movie in the vein of the classic John Carpenter movies about a team of blue-collar, underqualified mercenaries who get stuck on island fighting monsters. I’d be lying if I said that paying with time and space movies wasn’t something I was obsessed with. Not only does the movie have all the monster and sci-fi anybody could ask for, but we realized that deep down this was really on non-stop action movie. Guns, rights, helicopters, and speed boat stunts. Also, beautiful scenery the Northeast has to offer.

It’s always worth supporting independent ventures like this. “Island Escape” looks like plenty of fun, and we plan to grab some popcorn and drinks and soak up a little terror!
