I am, as I am sure most of us nerds are, struggling to find our place in these uncertain times. With our conventions and meetups are canceled, gatherings are banned and we cannot even go to a local coffee shop to talk to friends. It is hard to find purpose as humans, let alone those of us with nerdy tendencies.

That being said, there is hope and there are things to do to remain connected virtually.

The other night I was able to have a virtual game night with my family via video chat. We played Settlers of Catan, which happens to be my favorite board game. Catan is the perfect game for the whole family, so easy my 9-year-old niece can understand it. My brother in law made a makeshift stand for his phone so I was able to view the board, and with the computer, I could see and talk to them.

Another option is to watch your favorite nerdy films with friends on Netflix with the Chrome extension Netflix Party I did this the other day and watched: “Lord of the Rings: Two Towers” with a friend. We got to talk about the movie as it happened and it was a lot of fun. We got to discuss and squeal and be sad together.

Lastly, Nerdist released this article about 10 classic video games you can play on your phone.

These are overwhelming times and we have to remember to find time to take care of ourselves and find happy moments here and there. We will get through this, it is possible.

We can do this, nerds. If you have any suggestions on how to keep up our nerd ways during quarantine, let us know! Stay safe and stay nerdy.
